Rossi looked to N.Y. for regulation reform plan

By ANGELA GALLOWAY
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER

It's a familiar Republican drumbeat: Less red tape equals more jobs.

Dino Rossi has made regulatory reform the centerpiece of his campaign for governor, a platform aimed at benefiting Olympia's powerful business lobby.

But the effect of Rossi's ambitious agenda could be much greater than simply streamlining the arcane, voluminous layers of bureaucracy frustrating business owners.

If elected governor, Rossi would immediately grant himself broad oversight over all areas regulated by the state, including the environment, health, safety and social services. No new regulation could be implemented without approval of Rossi's regulation czar.

1. The legislature has already cut Ecology and Labor
And with the federal EPA and OSHA similarly limited under the Bushies, the state will be a disaster area under Rossi.

Gregoire wasn't my favorite Dem, but we're going to be in huge trouble if Rossi gets the vote. And he might.

4. Which poll is that?
A 27 Sept story in the P-I has Gregoire ahead 49-43. This 16 Sept story in the P-I has a poll by a Republican firm with Gregoire at 44 and Rossi at 41.

That's all I can find in the last few weeks.

5. This was a poll quoted on KING
and it was soon after the election so you are more current.
Good to see Gregoire is ahead but it should not be that close. Rossi is such a mess.
(Sorry for the delay in answering)
