California voters like Schwarzenegger; they just don't want to see him as president
TOM CHORNEAU, Associated Press Writer

Friday, October 8, 2004

(10-08) 07:59 PDT SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) --

California voters love their governor but do not want to see Arnold Schwarzenegger as president and do not like the idea of amending the U.S. Constitution to let him run.

The nonpartisan Field Poll released Friday found 65 percent of voters approve of Schwarzenegger's job performance -- a level unchanged since May.

But by a 2-to-1 margin, voters said they do not support the Austrian-born Schwarzenegger for president. Fifty percent said they were not inclined to vote for him, while 26 percent said they were.

Further, 58 percent of California voters did not support changing the U.S. Constitution to allow foreign-born Americans to run for president. Just 36 percent of voters in Schwarzenegger's home state supported the idea.

20. He was "elected" with less that 40% of the vote.
If the Dems put up anyone presentable, Ahnold will lose.
That does not mean the Dems will do that, of course.

34. There are plenty of such people.
They just have to get past the party hacks and get nominated.
The state party likes predictable suit-droids like Davis who
will not rock the boat. But California has plenty of good
Dem/Progressive politicians.

35. Is Harrison Ford still a Californian?
He's got action chops that blow Ahnold away -- and he did a fair number of his own stunts, too. Raiders, 'nuff said.

Ford's a big time Democratic donor, smart, articulate, and he's even played the president once in an action flick. What more could you ask for from Hollywood?

Then lets let the fucking issue die. It would be a serious mistake to ever change the Constitution for one man - let alone this one!

28. I agree...remember the discussion some were having
to amend the Constitution so President Clinton could have a third term? It worked for FDR.
I think that is why so many of his 'scandals' were just repugs throwing mud, just to stop that from gaining momentum.
As for Arnold, I just ignore the fact he is my Governor.

They were only scratching the surface during his "campaign". There are a Lot more skeletons in his closet, and he has proved what a Whore he is in his time in office.

FUCK ARNOLD, 2006!

Fuck him and throw him out!

12. I'm a California voter and I don't want to see Arnold as governor of CA!
Let alone the United States.

His muscle-head gets way too much credit for doing the exact same thing Gray Davis would have done if allowed to complete his term as governor.

Arnold needs to go back to Hollywood with his bad acting skills and stick his stank cigars up his arse.

14. arnold hasn't done jack krap except make galleria appearances..
and when he said that he wasn't going to cater to special interest groups, what he really meant that he wasn't going to reason with them damn injuns, unless you don't consider car dealers, insurance companys, large corpos that outsource, or big pharma as special interest groups. The Indian Tribes have been seeing a lot of player hating in these coming elections.

16. Ahnold's failing the people
He's a bush clone, sound bites, no substance, and the people aren't very happy about his recent vetoes; no drug reimportation from canada, no negotiations with the drug companies to lower medi cal's buget. He vetoed a raise of the minimum wage . The people are getting tired of the bush like bravado with the F-you to the people. They will see him as they see bush, all hat and no cattle. The republican ruse is being shown for what it is, tax cuts for the corporations, rich, and nothing for the working people.

19. There seems to be a double standard where Arnie's concerned
Here's a man who was AWOL from the Austrian Army, who for years shaved or waxed and oiled his entire body and strutted around in a bikini in a sport(?) that attracts many gay men.

Then you have John Kerry, war hero, who plays hockey, flies a plane, skis, windsurfs, and snowboards.

Guess which one is labeled effeminate?

Then there's "Shut Up and Sing," which only applies to Democratic entertainers who have an interest in politics.

22. I hope the repukes are stupid enough to
run Ahnold for President, and that the Dems have the balls to use his nudie porn shots and sticking his finger up a woman's crotch pix in their ads. Gray Davis failed to do this and it cost him his office.

Darrell Issa, who started this mess, ticked me off so much that I am a volunteer with the Byron for Congress campaign. Mike is running against Issa.

Issa cried on TV when he dropped out of the race because Arnold announced he was running for governor.
