Poor Florida! This has been a rough (and busy!) hurricane season. All the way to "M" - and still going!

6. Reminds my of hurricane Lenny
Developed in the Gulf and Mexico (1999) and then went the wrong way. Lenny just refused to follow the predictions.

10. I can't help but think about all the doom and gloom predicting weather
forecasters that have talked for years about what could happen to Florida with so much development, so many people never having experienced a hurricane and the potential for disaster.

There has to be at least one of those guys sitting somewhere going, "We told you so!" Even still, not even those guys could have foreseen 4 hurricanes and a tropical storm in one season hitting Florida.

12. This figures....
I lost the roof during Ivan....
All we need is a tropical storm (rainmaker) on everyones houses with no roofs.

This shit is getting old!!

14. Plastic shortage
I posted earler in response to someone who suggested that NW Florida deserved this visit. My response to the posted was the second post removed.

Plastic shortage has left Pensacola with many roofs uncovered.

Operation Blue Roof is the federal program designed to cover damaged roofs with blue plastic, but those efforts have slowed down due to an apparent lack of plastic.

Robbins says, shipments are coming in, but there is simply not enough to cover the estimated 37,000 roofs damaged by Hurricane Ivan.

In fact, only about 12,000 roofs have been covered leaving as many as 25,000 exposed.
Also, there have been rumors that plastic sent to Escambia County has ended up in Panama City and south Florida.

16. The idea that
God punishes people through disasters is a right wing Calvinist idea. The Bible tells us that God "causes it to rain on the good and bad alike". There are many Godly goals that might evolve out of hardship such as concern for your neighbor, gaining strength through overcoming hardships, learning that you can help others, even leaning lessons for the future, etc. but they are side effects. It is the right wingers who insist that those who are good are blessed and those who are bad are condemned. Rich you are good - poor you are bad. If you are sick you are bad - healthy-good, homeless-bad, mansion(or a ranch in Crawford)-good. This is a very inaccurate reading of the actual message of the Bible - a selfish reading.
