Hitachi announces San Jose cutbacks (400 jobs)

Hitachi Global Storage announced today that it will cut its U.S. workforce by 400 people by the end of the year, with the bulk of the reductions coming from its Cottle Road facility in San Jose.

The technology company said it will eliminate jobs through early retirement packages and layoffs.

Employees eligible for the buyouts have until Dec. 10 to exercise the option. Layoffs will begin Dec. 17.

The company said it will not know how many employees from each division will be affected until the voluntary buyout program is complete.

3. Hope that in tonight's
"debate" that Kerry mentions this (along with all the other annoucements of late) as soon as GeorgieBoy says "the economy is getting better." Maybe Rove, et al have been to busy prepping Pres Preppy to have caught up on Hitachi's notice.
