WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) expanded his slight lead over President Bush (news - web sites) to three points in a tight race for the White House, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Monday.

The Massachusetts senator held a 47-44 percent lead over Bush in the latest three-day tracking poll, up two points from Sunday. Bush's support dropped one point and Kerry's support rose one point in the new poll.

5. For every poll that has
Kerry up, there's one that has him down. The new WaPo post has Bush at 51 and Kerry at 46. That's also a three day tracking.
It's neck and neck. Kerry needs a strong showing in debate #3, and we need to get the vote out.

9. The other polls are: 1. polling more Republicans than Democrats...
...despite the fact that there are more registered Democrats nationwide; and/or 2., polling the most likely voters based on the patterns of the 2000 election; and/or 3., ignoring the huge increase in newly registered voters.

Zogby has been the most accurate poll since the 2000 election...why worry about the others?

35. I agree that it's neck and neck
but even the WaPo tracking poll among RVS had Kerry going from 9 points down to 1 down in a week. I suspect their LV poll has more Repukes than Zogby's.

This freeptard thinks Bush will get a bounce from the debate.:7

How the hell is this happening?
It's not.

1. Zogby.

2. Three-day poll (i.e., first day was before the debate).

17. on what basis did he say that?
That's the stupidest thing I've heard. I don't get Imus where I live, so I don't know his shtick. But I do know Kerry not only has a chance, but a good one, barring more Rove dirty tricks. Or perhaps that's what he meant.

18. Kerry 51 Bush 47 (others 1)
Thats my prediction for the final. Kerry is going to gain a point or two more this week, then by early next week after the last debate another point or so. He'll be up by about 6-7 points, but then will drop back to 4 points for the election. Possibly 5 points.

I predict Kerry 51% Bush 47% Others 1%
Electoral College - Kerry 327 Bush 211

President to get more than 50% of the vote since 1988. That would be big.

22. Beginning to see the effect of bush's hostile performance in the debate.
Kerry's lead will increase a few more points by Wednesday. bush's angry berating of Kerry, the audience, and all who question him was a total turn-off to undecideds, especially women. Kerry, on the other hand, was controlled, reasonable and Presidential.
