Israeli troops probed for killing child (shot 20 times on way to school)
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 08:47 PM by Aidoneus
20 bullets to take down a 13y.o. girl? You know back when I was 13, it only took a few sweet phrases like "your hair looks nice" to make them swoon and drop.. the Uzi submachine-guns are a little bit much, perhaps? And on the side, if they're so damn blind as to not be able to recognize a teenage girl in their scopes, as the spokesbots claim, maybe they shouldn't be pointing guns at people to begin with until they sort such trifling inadequacies out (Imam Mahdi(AJ) and Jesus will return and throw a pool party before any army on the planet does that, so perhaps it's just best that they bugger off and raise sheep or something). That is all resting on the unlikely assumption that it was any sort of accident.

Israeli troops probed for killing child
Tuesday 12 October 2004

Israeli troops who killed a Palestinian schoolgirl in the Gaza Strip are under investigation for riddling her with bullets although she proved to have posed no threat to them, military sources have said.

Iman al-Hams, 13, was shot some 20 times on 5 October as she walked past an Israeli military outpost en route to school in Rafah, a refugee camp on Gaza's border with Egypt.

The area has seen frequent violence during the four-year-old Palestinian intifada.

"Israeli soldiers stormed the area, the girl left the bag and tried to run," Omar Abu Khalifa, 25, a Palestinian witness who lives nearby, told Reuters on Monday.

"Bullets hit the bag and then soldiers opened fire on the girl."

An Israeli military sources said: "The soldiers fired warning shots into the air. The figure dropped the bag and fled. The soldiers had no way of knowing it was a girl. The soldiers then fired at and hit the figure."

2. What is the point? No one in the west cares, it's just another
trrst according to the shrub and the Israelis don't even see them as human. The rise of the international Fascist state between Sharon and the shrub mean these people don't matter. It's a hard thing to realize but if your not of the ruling class no one will do anything to help you. If you want to know why there is terrorism look no further, the parents of this child cannot get justice and so people with nothing to lose see nothing wrong with blowing themselves up to get a few of the ruling class. Evil begets evil, hate begets hate and that is how the ruling class continue to rule.

18. We care, but it seems like the last known sin to talk about this stuff. I
don't understand why it can't be talked about and a solution found. The U.S. should not take any side in this matter. The U.S. should stop sending money to Israel. And, if they're sending farthings to the Palestinians, that should stop that as well. Nothing. Nobody gets anything but an invitation to a peace table.

I know this won't happen with Bush in office and I'm not so sure about Kerry. I just don't understand the unconditional support of Israel. Support should never be unconditional - for anyone.

29. Eyesight tests are desperately needed, it seems...
Their eyesight must be shocking not to be able to see a 13 year old. Amazing how their eyesight improves immensely once they start firing. Kids in their early teens are easily distinguished from adults. They're generally smaller, much more gangly, and tend to wear school uniforms and go to school. Maybe the IDF needs to engage me as a highly-paid consultant so this mother of a 13 year old girl can teach them how to recognise kids. I'd even take my own along to show them, but I'd be too damned scared they'd shoot her by "accident"...

Violet...

5. "soldiers had no way of knowing it was a girl"
"it" was a human being. A child, a school girl. But apparently to the Israeli army -- humans are reduced to "it" -- thus not human and not like Israeli human beings.

I used to be an unquestioning supporter of Israel -- after all Israel came into being because the holocaust in Europe.

THEN I made the effort to read the details of the people the Israeli army was killing -- far too many children -- often toddlers.

This case -- a school girl with her book bag -- taking the customary route to school is murdered by the Israeli army.

Sharon is a very evil monster -- and needs to be replaced -- he is personally responsible for the increase of terroristic threats in the world. Sharon is a danger to the Israelis, to us in the US and to the whole world.

10. You won't see this story on CNN or in any other Zionist owned US media.
If this had been an Israeli girl, we would have been fed video every hour all day long, and another video tomorrow of her funeral, with interviews with distraught family members.

The average American doesn't even know that the "score" now
is about 4:1, Arab deaths:Jewish deaths.

How many suicide bombers from among her classmates will this murder help recruit? People who have hope don't commit suicide. We are talking about a whole generation of Palestinian youth who see murder, and homes bulldozed on a DAILY basis!

15. This has got to be the fucking end.
Children, and adults, run when people are shooting at them, or when they've seen others shot so many times, all it takes is a point of the gun to set the feet to moving.

This is too much.

22. TWO 15 year old Arab girls murdered by IDF last week........
I just happened upon this story found only in the UK Guardian. Of course, these Arab teenaged girls don't merit any space or video clips on the U.S. media. What is going on, a war against girls?

"The two 15-year-old pupils at Jabaliya's school were both shot in the head by Israeli soldiers inside their homes just a few blocks and several hours apart. Islam Dwidar died almost immediately after the bullet smashed through her forehead as she baked bread with her mother in their yard on Sunday. Tahreer Abu El Jidyan is still on life support at a Gaza hospital after an operation to remove shards of shattered skull from her brain. She lies motionless, with little to suggest she is alive other than gentle breathing. Doctors do not expect her to survive."

17. well golly gee, where are our homies who usually hang out in i/p..
they never seem to have anything to add when these stories are posted. But hoo boy.. when the IDF sees fit to blow the shit out of some neighborhood because some "militant" may have possibly been seen in the area, they sure are quick to post with shit like "SCORE ONE FOR THE GOOD GUYS". I think one (and board rules preclude me from naming names) must have hurt himself running to the computer when he posted TWICE about the alleged "missle" being loaded into the UN ambulance -- the one that turned out to be a litter. Good thing he's a Dr. -- allegedly.

19. The outrage of the aware American taxpayer
about this kind of thing can only be exceeded by the outrage of the parent of a dead Palestinian kid at the United States. Israel's gotten off light for their own crimes against humanity so far but Israel doesn't seem quite as culpable as the U.S. government publicly asking them to knock it off while giving them 'the wink'.

I can't believe that the American people don't know the reality of terrorist-creation; they just don't want to. It's so inconvenient. Sort of like a mirror, when you're really ugly.

23. They know. Americans are not stupid. It's how they want their money spent

They want it so bad they are willing to have their own kids go without medical treatment to do it.

It's got nothing to do with Democrats and Republicans, it's just what the voters want. It's culture.

how we are hijacked in Congress as much as we are the media. See the thread on Kerry and Arafat while you are at it. There is MUCH to learn about Our Good Friends the Israelis.

Read a little on some of AIPAC's legal adventures, if you want some dense and scary info.

26. Sounds like this was a "confirmed kill"...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,2763,1325307,00.html

>>The Israeli army has begun investigating the death of a 13-year-old Palestinian girl said to have been shot dead by soldiers then riddled with bullets by their commander.

>>The company commander then approached the body and fired two bullets at her head before switching his gun to automatic, the soldiers alleged. Doctors found more than 20 bullets in her body.

>>The soldiers were so disgusted by the slow pace of an army investigation that they approached the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth to demand the officer's dismissal.<<
