Bush's approval rating slipping
WASHINGTON — President Bush and Sen. John Kerry head toward their third and final televised debate this week with voters increasingly pessimistic about the economy, the war in Iraq and the battle against terrorism, a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows.

Unease about the country's direction has eroded Bush's job approval rating into dangerous territory for an incumbent president. And Kerry holds a decided advantage on the domestic issues that will be the focus of their last face-to-face encounter.

Even so, voters' judgment by 45% to 30% that Kerry did better than Bush in their second debate Friday didn't significantly change the contest between them.

<BIG SNIP :)>

Among all registered voters, Kerry and Bush each had 48%. In the 17 states that both campaigns see as most competitive, Kerry was at 48%, Bush at 45%.

3. Just heard some further breakdown on CNN ratings
Kerry is way ahead on handling the environment, health care, and the deficit. He's even ahead (single digit) on handling the abortion issue! Still behind, inexpicably, on terror but I think that gap will close. Great news IMO.

5. "echoing press" was less than enthuistac about second debate
Using words like contentious I wonder if they have watched the nastiness of the ads they broadcast. Bush was a hiphopping fool I wonder if his earphone had a shocker in it? It dont matter kerry did a fine job and all of us saw it.

6. Rove must be going into 'Oh Fuck' mode.
And wondering which sinister trick to pull next. Bush/Cheney can't run on a record of public service, so smearing opponents is the only chance they have in 3 weeks.

But these polls are encouraging. Evidently a lot of people are not buying the Bush line and are taking another look at Kerry/Edwards.

Hot diggity dog.

9. Never mind Rove..
we have bigger fish to fry. If Kerry wins, Sinclair Broadcasting stock isn't going to be worth the paper it's printed on.

8. His grip on reality is tenuous, as well.
I hear "God's chosen one" is having trouble sleeping these days.

Guess he isn't as resolute as he claims ...
