Kerry Threatens Bush in Colorado as Democrats See Gain in West

Oct. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Gary Hart, the former senator and presidential candidate who serves as John Kerry's campaign chairman in Colorado, gave the four-term Massachusetts senator little chance to win the state six months ago.

``The state's got a reputation as Republican,'' Hart said in an interview in April.

He may be proven wrong. With three weeks until the Nov. 2 election, a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of Colorado voters shows the race there mirrors the national contest, with President George W. Bush and Democratic candidate Kerry each drawing 49 percent support. Both parties earlier this year excluded Colorado from their list of ``battleground'' states, projecting it as a Republican win.

1. My cousin lives in Denver and she says
all she sees is Kerry signs. Her husband just ordered a "Veterans for Kerry" yard sign.

Good news!

3. Don't break out the party hats just yet
Boulder and Denver typically lean left - the rest of the state is fairly solid red.

I still don't think Kerry can win here, although I think there's a good chance we can gain a Senate seat (Ken Salazar over Pete "Car Salesman Smile" Coors).

4. but Kerry is gaining in Colorado, while he has no advertising here
and the pukes are flooding the state with * ads. here in the springs several times during the week, during all hours, i can find NRA ads and such smearing Kerry. the support for Kerry isn't being driven by tv ads, it seems to be an actual grassroots effort. people are fucking pissed!

8. I see Kerry ads and Bush ads every night
on the TV, Denver-metro stations.

Not sure if you have your own local affiliates down there.

7. If Gary Hart told Kerry "you have no chance of winning here"
I would have fired his ass (if I could have). I like Gary but that kind of defeatist attitude is self fulfilling. I am so tired of that kind of attitude. We have the power to take back every state. Every state has our voters and we can make strides in all of them. The new Democratic value is never give up and never surrender. The more voters get educated and become informed, the more they move to our side. No effort we make is wasted. We are re-building. We have to keep working.

Help is on the way, Colorado.

Sonia
