Bush and Kerry Tied in National Surveys by CBS News and Zogby
Oct. 12 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush and John Kerry are tied in a CBS News poll and a Reuters/Zogby survey as they head into tomorrow's final debate. The candidates also are even in a Gallup poll released yesterday.

In the CBS poll, Bush is backed by 48 percent of 1,023 registered voters surveyed Oct. 9-11, while Kerry, the four-term senator from Massachusetts, is supported by 45 percent. The results are within the survey's margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Independent candidate Ralph Nader drew 2 percent.

Kerry and Bush are split at 45 percent among 1,223 likely voters in a Reuters/Zogby tracking poll conducted Oct. 9-11. That poll has an error margin of 2.9 percentage points.

A Gallup poll, conducted Oct. 9-10 for CNN and USA Today, shows Kerry with 49 percent to 48 percent for Bush among 793 likely voters. The results are within the poll's 4-point margin of error. A Washington Post tracking poll Oct. 8-10 shows Bush ahead of Kerry by 6 percentage points. <snip>
