Tyco sells $21m flat, but not its gold shower curtain
The Times
From James Doran, Wall Street Correspondent

TYCO has sold the New York apartment where Dennis Kozlowski, its former head, threw sumptuous dinners and parties in suites lined with Renoirs and lit by crystal lamps, for $21 million (£11.7 million).
But the buyer, James G Dinan, chief executive of York Capital Management, will find some fixtures missing from the four-bedroom apartment at 950 Fifth Avenue.

The $6,000 gold-weave shower curtain is held by the Manhattan District Attorney as evidence in the second trial of Mr Kozlowski and his colleagues Mark Swartz and Mark Belnick.

But artwork, including the $4.7 million Fleurs et fruits by Renoir and a $4 million Monet, Près Monte Carlo, have vanished. Mr Kozlowski and Mr Swartz are accused of looting $600 million from Tyco and will stand trial in January after the first hearing was declared a mis-trial.

The Renoir was sold at a loss by Mr Kozlowski soon after he was charged. The three men deny the charges. Mr Kozlowski was originally accused of avoiding tax on the paintings but investigations led to the more serious charges.
