AARP Rejects Harris' Endorsement Claim
The AARP says U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris sent out a misleading mailing that implied the powerful senior citizen advocacy group has endorsed the Longboat Key Republican.

AARP attorneys have sent Harris, who is running for re- election this year, a stern letter warning her against using the organization's name in her mailings, adding that the nonprofit group does not endorse candidates.

``Your mailing falsely implies that the AARP takes partisan positions. We do not,'' AARP Associate General Counsel Michael R. Schuster says in a letter to Harris.

Harris officials dispute the charges about the mailing, which was sent out almost a year ago. Sally Tibbetts of Harris' congressional office said the mailing was intended to assure seniors in the 13th Congressional District that legislation Harris voted for had the AARP's blessing, a deciding factor in swaying Harris.

2. Have you ever seen anyone so ignorant of election and campaign
rules and laws be so incompetent? And to think she oversaw the elections in the state of Florida and had the entire 2000 presidential election hang on her watch.

And what's even more troubling is that she was elected to a congressional seat and will likely be re-elected?

What does this say about the IQ of the people of Florida?

14. When did AARP suddenly become non partisan?
I well remember their strong support for shrubs new medicare drug bill...until the seniors all rebelled against it and the AARP!

I'm glad they are telling Harris where to get off, but they sure don't have my support!
