Oregon: Voter registration numbers head for the stratosphere
http://www.kgw.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D85M76H82.html

By JULIA SILVERMAN  / Associated Press

... Tuesday was the final day to register in Oregon, and final numbers of new voters haven't yet been tallied by the secretary of state's office.

But chances are that there could be well over 100,000 new Oregon voters in this election cycle. About 2.6 million people in Oregon are eligible to vote; about 1.94 million registered for the previous presidential election.

... In Multnomah County, the state's most populous and one of its foremost liberal bastions, the total number of registered voters was 404,947 as of Oct. 8 — significantly above the 383,915 people registered in the county as of November, 2000, even without the addition of the all-out blitz expected in the last few days.

Moreover, the numbers show that the laser-like Democratic focus in Multnomah County has paid off. Almost 26,000 Multnomah County Democrats have registered since January of 2004, for a total of 202,349, compared with just several thousand Republicans.

1. Yeah, but how many were 'registered' through the RNC/VOA Mafia?
And had their reg forms torn up unbeknownst to them?

3. Yeah, Baby!
Ha Ha. I just love it that the Repukes thought they might be able to cherry pick Oregon this time. They were too stupid to realize it was close in 2000 because liberals voted for Nader. DUH!

We are fired up and we are going to kick Republican asses 'til they beg for mercy!

4. Wowieeee.
Such incredibly, fantastically GOOD news. I luv it!! Studies have proven, that most of the newly registered voters are Democrats. Not just in Oregon, but all over the country.

At my office, for example, almost everyone is voting for Kerry. Only 2 people that we know (1 is my boss) are voting for Bush. It's like they're almost ashamed of it.

heh he...it's going to be Kerry in a landslide.

Either the People defeat Bush or you might as well think of the end result as nailing Thomas Jefferson and his buds up on crosses in Times Square. Shove some thorny crowns on them as well. Another term of Bush will be the the demarcation of the very end of everything they stood for and fought for. The experiment will be over for good, most likely.

If you can find me a quote or phrase that our Forefathers bequeathed to us that supports Bush's current anti-American Regime, I would love to read or hear it. Please, feel free to post them.

Ours is not a perfect system, but this time, we are able to use it in a way that will preserve it. There is just no other choice, and I mean that in a non-partisan way. This November 2nd, the vote will not be about Bush versus Kerry, as much as it will be about Freedom vs. Political Oligarchy, or if you will, the final step in a Fascist takeover of the Republic.

I think you all will agree that a Bush win will cast a very, very dark cloud over America. Our country will finally be cast in concrete as nothing more than a military-industrial machine of World conquest with no end to it in sight. America will be the new Nazi Regime acting as a fourth Reich that will use its advanced military might to rule for a thousand years, if it can. Meanwhile, it will also turn on its own people and create an even bigger industry out of imprisoning them for trivial reasons.

Voting like your life depends on it is sound advice. I am optimistic. I think that Thomas Jefferson was not a fool and he will be vindicated in this round against tyranny.

6. I'm one of the newbies.
I signed up via a solicitor on campus. But then read in the paper I should have done it at the courthouse. I better get my frickin' ballot.

7. Some questionable tactics have been employed.
I was in the Democratic Party headquarters in Medford last week when a young kid came in to change his registration. He had been signed up in a voter registration drive at the local community college in Medford. Whoever approached him had suggested that he register as a Republican and that it really didn't make a difference. When it was explained to him that he could not vote in the Democratic primary elections he felt he had been had. We need to make sure that these new voters understand how the system works.

9. I thought Oregon had same-day registration?
Or was that before they implemented mail-in voting?
