Bradbury plans to investigate election complaint

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Secretary of State Bill Bradbury and Attorney General Hardy Myers plan to investigate allegations that a paid canvasser might have destroyed voter registration forms

There have been allegations made that someone threw out some voter registration forms that had been submitted to them," Bradbury told The Associated Press late Tuesday. "This is a violation of the law and I will meet with the attorney general in the morning to talk about what we can do to pursue this, and to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Bradbury learned of the conduct from KGW-TV, which interviewed Mike Johnson, 20, a canvasser who said he was instructed to only accept Republican registration forms. He told the TV reporter that he "might" destroy forms turned in by Democrats.

"I have never in my five years as secretary of state ever seen an allegation like the one that came up tonight — ever," Bradbury said. "I mean, frankly, it just totally offends me that someone would take someone else's registration and throw it out."

Bradbury said the law requires that groups registering voters submit forms no later than five days after they were filled out. He added that canvassers can't turn away a voter because of his or her party affiliation

1. Making sure it "doesn't happen again" isn't good enough!
What is he going to do to ensure that the voters disenfranchised by this criminal behavior are allowed to vote in *this* election??

2. How About 'On-The-Spot' Registration At The Polling Places...
with the voters given provisional ballots to ensure that there's no fraud of ineligible voters or voters going to multiple polling places.

Or... maybe "instant" registration up until the day before election day. That still gives enough time to print out a roster of registered voters for each polling place.

The Republicans are SO CROOKED and IMMORAL that they don't care if it's illegal. They don't even care if they get caught. They are only interested in results. (Full speed ahead!! Pay the "penalty" later... it's all good as long as Bush* gets selected.)

10. You can still go to the election office of your county
and get it fixed.

one year, my ballot was returned, by the post office, from my post box (some lame reason I never got to the bottom of).

This was a week before the election date, and I went to the elections office in my county and got a duplicate, no problem.

Our ballots are supposed to be mail to us Saturday (or by Saturday), so if I don't get mine by the end of next week, you know I'll march down to that office and get it regardless.

16. People who had previously registered must go back and check NOW!!
Not everyone can do this, but if enough do it and find out that they are listed as registered that will make a solid case for court.

A spokesman for the Las Vegas bureau of the FBI said he did not know if an investigation had been initiated.

How did I know this would happen?

8. The FBI is now a republican party affiliate. It no longer serves
all Americans.

We should not expect them to uphold or enforce the laws of the land in any matter that goes against the Party.

FBI Director Robert Mueller is an Ashcroft lackey, and FBI field agents that are loyal to America have either quit the FBI in disgust or are basically prevented from investigating anything that might be detrimental to the republican party.

7. In Nevada same thing
Guy who was hired to gather voter registrations on the street literally watched the supervisor rip up the democratic reg forms and return receipts. Shouldnt this have a penalty akin to mail fraud or something?

11. Registration Forms
Can someone tell me why the HELL we have to put a party affiliation on the damn registration form? The only reason it is on there is to give the two main parties an idea of their numbers. Isn't that just playing into the two party system?

14. Most states restrict primary voting to be within the registered party
it's a stupid system but that's why it's required. :grr:
