Wisconsin: Milwaukee mayor crying foul over lack of ballots on Nov. 2nd!
In the battleground state of Wisconsin where I am from, this could be huge if there are not enough ballots in Milwaukee on November 2nd!

Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker(R), citing vote-fraud concerns, is publicly balking at a City of Milwaukee request for almost 260,000 additional ballots in anticipation of high turnout for the Nov. 2 presidential election.

snip-

Mayor Tom Barrett(D) blasted Walker's stance, and Common Council President Willie Hines Jr. immediately joined in, saying it was an attempt to suppress the central-city vote.

"I'm going to lay this at the footsteps of the county if there aren't enough ballots in the city," said Barrett.

Shortages feared

City officials said that they were trying to err on the side of no ballot shortages because some wards have run out in the past.

They said that ballot-marking errors, intense voter interest, the need to have extra ballots at many high-turnout wards and other factors played into their request.

The flare-up between Barrett and Walker pits two of the most prominent politicians in the Milwaukee area who - while holding non-partisan offices - are on opposite sides of the presidential race. Walker, a Republican, is a state co-chair of President Bush's campaign, while Barrett, a Democrat, is state co-chair of the John Kerry campaign.

This is utter and complete bullshit people! In Milwaukee, if we run out of ballots and people cannot vote, there WILL be chaos. This story is front page news today.

8. My God, WTMJ is an absolute EIB wannabe station.
Sikes and Wagner are two of the most obnoxious, blame-shifting, Bush ass kissers I've heard on radio. I will not turn on TMJ at home or in the car anymore because of those two retarded bushbots.

2. Can we say complete and utter chaos?
It seems that pulling out all the stops means complete and utter chaos so voters have no clue what is right/wrong, up/down, etc.

This way they are kept off balance, therefore, making more mistakes or becoming intimidated and not even showing up, or can't argue their rights because the situation is not a known to them.

3. If B*sh is so great, why are they cheating?
This is the dirtiest pre-election I have ever witnessed, including Nixon in 72.

I'd love it if Kerry could somehow ask B*sh tonight: "If you think your policies are so good, and your pResidency has been so wonderful for Americans, why is your campaign cheating everywhere by trying to suppress the African American vote, destroying Democrats' voter registrations, depriving cities of ballots, etc.? Haven't you ever heard of sportsmanship and fair play?"

24. I believe you'll find
that the DNC has legal teams standing by in every battleground area, ready to go into court to extend voting hours, get extra ballots distributed, etc. wherever problems crop up. They've learned a lot of lessons from 2000.

6. If Bu$h "wins" this "election", the legitimacy of the "win" is moot.
Republicans have already engaged in mass voter fraud, in many different forms, prior to the election.

Realistically, there is no way that Bu$h can win this election without cheating, and the cheating by republicans has already been nationally rampant.

They have already cheated, and cost Bu$h any legitimacy he could have had if he actually won the election fairly.

Of course, since he already cheated in an election so that he could assume power, his legitimacy as an incumbent is already nil.

Bu$h can never really be the true, legitimately elected President of the US.

10. Would you look at that, once again a *republican* elected official...
...is doing everything in their power to lower vote counts and disenfranchise legal voters, primarily inner city minority voters. How many times now do we have to hear the same story? Every fair-minded, decent citizen, irregardless of party affiliation, should be up-in-arms about this.

Once again, RULE NUMBER ONE: In a democracy we want people to vote. We encourage each and every citizen to vote. And once they do vote, WE COUNT ALL THE VOTES!

11. I have an idea!
If there is a shortage of ballots then there will be a bidding process where people can pay a small fee for their ballots. That'll solve the problem. I mean, we don't want non-property holders voting do we? ;)

Milwaukee is hardcore Dem!

The mayoral race runoff was between a Democrat and a liberal independent. And the congressional seat is always Dem.

Bush pulled in 2% of the African-American vote in 2000. The north side has a heavy black population.

22. Parts of Milwaukee may lean a little to the right
The north shore suburbs like Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, and Fox Point are a little more upscale. Same with the far south side. Overall, though, Milwaukee County tends to lean a bit to the left, and the City of Milwaukee definitely leans left.

Neighboring Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington Counties are loaded with Republicans.

But what? Does Doyle have the ability to change this? How about we get Scott Walker out of office as soon as possible. I've hated that rat-bastard for some time now.

20. Milwaukee is heavily democratic! It's the western burbs that are repuke
In terms of what to do, I agree I'm from Milwaukee and something damn well better be done. Gov. Jime Doyle is a Democrat as is Senator Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl.

I am going to start with emails to them and see what they can do. Scott Walker is a right wing A-hole who wants inner city and black voters suppressed. Gore only won this state by 5,000 votes.

Repukes will do everything they can to supress Kerry voters. Its really bullshit and I am not going to stand for this!

26. Anyone know if Feingold is involved?
Geez - I know his seat is "technically" at risk - but surely his campaign must be in on what's going on.

BTW: Where the HELL is Herb Kohl? I moved back to WI 3 years ago, and have seen NOTHING of him!

And a suggestion: Why can't the county print up enough ballots in advance and keep the extra under lock until needed? That should be an amicable enough solution. That way, the ballots can be retrieved if needed...and at least, they would be available.
