Court Halts Sale of September 11 Coins
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/attacks_coin

ALBANY, N.Y. - New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer on Wednesday obtained a court order to temporarily suspend the sale of commemorative Sept. 11 coins heavily advertised as being minted from silver recovered at ground zero.

Spitzer said the National Collector's Mint, based in Port Chester, N.Y., claims the coins engraved with "In God We Trust" are legally authorized silver dollars, when they aren't.

The TV and print ads include one fashioned after a news story that reads: "Today, history is being made. For the first time ever, a legally authorized government issue silver dollar has been struck to commemorate the World Trade Center and the new Freedom Tower being erected in its place ... Most importantly, each coin has been created using .999 pure silver recovered from ground zero!"

The dollar pieces are priced at $39 each, but sold at $19.95 with a limit of five per customer.

12. Almost as bad as the RNC selling W. photos
These coins were almost as tacky as the RNC selling sets of photos of our fearful leader flying around on Sept. 11, 2001.

One ass on local hate radio said the photos showed Bush "at the top of his game."

I thought, "Bush, at the top of his game? Thousands of people just murdered, on Bush's watch, and he's at the TOP of his game? What happens when he's at the bottom of his game?"

13. Kerry couldn't pick a better man.
In the latest NRDC magazine, Spitzer is profiled because of his willingness to go after polluters for the citizens of NY.

5. I saw this
on TV and I thought OMG!!! What's next? Diamonds made from DNA found at ground zero?!?!? Commemorative steel plates made from recycled metal from the towers?!?!?

The only thing I think should be made from anything recycled from the towers is a cage to put bin Laden in!!! Build a prison completely from recycled materials from the towers to hold him and his ilk!

Sorry, but when I first heard the TV commercial, I thought: oh well, another ripoff scam. But then I heard them touting that the silver was recovered from ground zero and I was appalled!!!

9. I've Seen Those Ads
they refer to the Northern Mariana Islands. Is that a US possession, or just a small country trying to make a few hundred thousand dollars?

11. CIA fact book-A Commonwelath in political union with the US
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/cq.html

Under US administration as part of the UN Trust Territory of the Pacific, the people of the Northern Mariana Islands decided in the 1970s not to seek independence but instead to forge closer links with the US. Negotiations for territorial status began in 1972. A covenant to establish a commonwealth in political union with the US was approved in 1975. A new government and constitution went into effect in 1978.

19. 9/11 Criminals Should Be Jailed or Shot.
The silver claim is BS, btw. Given the heat of the tower fires, there is no way any silver in that pile would have survived pure enough to use given what else was in there.

I get nicer .999 Ag $10 souvenir casino coins out of the slot machines in Reno.

Companies like this purposely mislead people into thinking they're affiliated with the U.S. Mint. I hate scumbags.

I hope they get their assets seized and be forced to pay 1,000,000,000 USD fine.

Those jerks took it off their sleazy website but you can still read the google cache.
