AP: Six American soldiers die in bombings, suicide attacks; Allawi warns
Fallujah to give up al-Zarqawi or face attack

By Nadia Abou El-Magd, Associated Press, 10/13/2004 17:19

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) A suicide attack and roadside bombings killed six American soldiers, and Iraq's prime minister warned residents of insurgent bastion Fallujah on Wednesday to hand over terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi or face military action.

Al-Zarqawi's Tawhid and Jihad group has claimed responsibility for beheading several foreign hostages and for car bombings throughout the country, and a videotape posted Wednesday on an Islamic Web site showed militants linked to al-Zarqawi beheading two Iraqis they accused of being intelligence officers.

The attacks, at a time when U.S. forces are putting pressure on insurgent strongholds in the Sunni heartland, occurred in the run-up to the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which Iraqi television said would begin here Friday. Some extremists believe they earn a special place in paradise if they die in a jihad, or holy war, during Ramadan, when Muslims believe God revealed their holy book the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad.

or face military action?

As opposed to what? Un-military action?

Man, this al-Zarqawi is blamed for more things gone bad than Clenis!

7. al-Zarqawi was also the guy who failed to negotiate a deal to...
secure helium gas for the dirigible. The Germans had to resort to hydrogen and you know the rest of the story.

2. i'm sure that they're scared..
hasn't Fallujah been attacked several times already? What are the guarantees that if al-Zarqawi is even there, and they "give him up", that they won't be attacked anyway? Fucking stupid.

4. Now wait a minute.
"at a time when U.S. forces are putting pressure on insurgent strongholds in the Sunni heartland"

Didn't the morons (civilian morons) in the Pentagon recently say that we are holding off on attacks in Iraq until after the election?

"and Iraq's prime minister warned residents of insurgent bastion Fallujah on Wednesday to hand over terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi or face military action"

And doesn't this essentially confirm that?

Soldiers are getting killed because of politics -- and the propaganda is getting thinner and thinner.

8. US Forces already in heavy fighting with Guerillas now!!!
US forces are already involved in heavy fighting in Samarra (ie yes i know the US public was told it was already captured - Our media saying they only control 50% and their supply lines are copping a mighty pounding from guerillas in the rear), Baquobah,Hit, Al Hadidthah,Al Qaim and Al Latifiyah. The US Army is trying to clear its supply line problems, which will be neccessary if they are to have any hope of maintaining an extended campaign thrust into the "Big" Guerilla strongholds of Fallujah and Al Ramadi. It appears that they have been meeting very strong resistance from sizable numbers of well armed guerilla fighters in these areas, as the Guerillas are also acutely aware that disrupting the US supply channels effectively is a major reason for why the US forces are so "bogged" down. I hate to say this but i would suspect a lot of US forces are getting killed and wounded right now although you Americans will probably never hear about them. Many will be fighting for my "Green Card" soldiers or even Mercs!! who don't show up on DOD official figures
Saw a really spectacular video of a Guerilla ambush on an M1 Abrams last night on an internet site hosted by an ex-aussie Special forces soldier called Joe Vialls. What was so scarey for the US tank guys was how easily this tank blew up when the explosion went off. It went up like a roman candle - no one survived. It was blown into tiny little pieces. I've got no idea what the guerillas used but US tankers want to hope they don't have to much of it!! Amazingly, The video was show on our independent late night news service SBS last night as well, as i got a call from a friend saying "Did you see the US Tank attack video on the news tonight? I was doing some research work so i hadn't seen the late news.

10. What was the date on that M1 Abrams blast?
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 04:31 AM by Aidoneus
I know that the resistance units have been experimenting on ways to take those out (one successful op. required a fairly sophisticated anti-tank device reworked to act like a mine under the tracks--so that instead of an explosion technically disabling it, it required piercing shrapnel to enter the underside and just rip up the parts inside), but it is proved a little more elusive than the basic RPG-7 that guts and melts the standard transports, so it doesn't happen as much..

9. The never ending war.
DEJA VU (ALL OVER AGAIN)

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you try to read the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again

Day by day I hear the voices rising
Started with a whisper like it did before
Day by day we count the dead and dying
Ship the bodies home while the networks all keep score

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Could your eyes believe the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again

One by one I see the old ghosts rising
Stumblin' 'cross Big Muddy
Where the light gets dim
Day after day another Momma's crying
She's lost her precious child
To a war that has no end

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you stop to read the writing at The Wall
Did that voice inside you say
I've seen this all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again
It's like Deja Vu all over again
