Crude oil breaks through $54 US barrier on new supply fears
The price of crude broke through the $54 US barrier on Thursday, following speculation fuelled by a pipeline explosion in Mexico.

A continued work stoppage in Africa's largest producer, Nigeria, also affected prices. Crude for November delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange was up US$0.51 from its overnight closing price of $53.64, trading at US$54.14 during after-hours deals early Thursday in Asia.

2. I don't recall any discussion of energy in tonight's debate.
In my opinion, it is one of the crucial issues for the U.S. and the world for the next 70 or so years. I was very disappointed that Scheiffer did not ask any questions on this point.

4. Of course not, It was all part of the service from bush's golf buddy
Yeah, Bob "Bush-lover" Schieffer was his golf buddy.

Schieffer seems to be a deep-cover Repub. He's only activates when it really counts, as in the final presidential debate.

Schieffer had no questions about the environment either. But he had plenty of questions on the Repub hot-button issues: same-sex marriages, religion, abortion, etc., etc.

Several months ago, Schieffer had Rabid Randy Cunningham and Max Cleland on his little-watched Face the Nation. He introduced Cunningham as a Vietnam combat ace, and Cleland as a "triple-amputee from Vietnam," never mentioning that Cleland had won both silver star and bronze star medals there.
