WASHINGTON (Dow Jones/AP) - More people than expected filed first-time claims for unemployment benefits last week.
The Labor Department says initial jobless claims rose by 15,000 to a
seasonally adjusted level of 352,000.
The more stable four-week average rose by 4,000 to a
seven-month high of 352,000.

The average forecast of economists had been looking for claims to rise by only 5,000.
