Al Gore to Charge Bush With Failed Presidency; Will Present Evidence Bush Intentionally Deceived the American People

(snip)

Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver his final major policy speech of the campaign season, the last in a series sponsored by MoveOn.org and MoveOn PAC, at Georgetown University's Gaston Hall in Washington, DC on Monday, Oct. 18 at 12:30 p.m.

Gore will charge Bush with a failed Presidency in critical areas including: Iraq, jobs, environment and trust in government.

1. The media will ignore the speech
Except perhaps to sneer at it and at him.

If I'm wrong, then the changed attitude some here have claimed to see in the media may be real.

13. Let them - they are making themselves irrelevant - every year they lose
more viewers.
I can't wait to hear him speak again. Moveon should put out a dvd of all his policy speeches.

4. I'd rather listen to Al Gore than John Kerry
Gore has been on target since he re-entered the political discussion after the 2000 Theft and 9/11/01.

10. President Gore is a fantastic speaker! In fact, most Americans voted for
him over Bush.

11. Agreed.
He can afford to be much more forceful than Kerry, and he is. Kerry's public position on Iraq is still wimp-ass milquetoast. Guess Kerry's still afraid of being slammed in the mess media as "anti-war".

20. if Al Gore had fought for the presidency in 2000
with any resemblance of determination, we wouldn't be in this mess today. He knew he had the majority of votes but sat back and watched the mobsters on the Supreme Court hand it to Bush on a silver platter.

His speeches today are distracting if not irrelevant.

22. Gore fought the legal way for 36 days
He didn't believe in using political guerrilla campaigns because he didn't want people hurt and there was no public concensus to do so anyway.

Gore did all that he legally could. The Supreme Court screwed this country when the accepted the Bush vs Gore case and overrode Florida's state election laws, laws that were similar to the ones Bush passed in Texas.

6. I hate to be realistic, but Kerry is not winning yet - - it's a tie
And Smirk is still leading the electoral college.

Kerry's vulenerability is that Smirk's base is solid, but Kerry's base is weak: the left, African-Americans and women are not supporting him at the same rates as they supported Gore.

Gore speaking against Smirk is a plus, because it reminds people who are soft on Kerry either what's at stake and/or why they hate Smirk so much more than they dislike Kerry.

MoveOnPAC would not be sponsoring another speech by Gore if it would really hurt Kerry. They are very good at what they do and understanding their constituency.

16. I assume then you also want Sharpton and Jackson to stop GOTV in FL?
Do you want Bubba - - a guy who still gets a 60% disapproval rating - - to keep silent rather than record phone calls and radio ads?

How about that old obstructionist, Tom Daschle - - should he sit this one out too?

Or that slimy non-patriot Max Cleland, should he keep clear of veterans' groups?

And how about those two pro-abortion, tax-and-spend liberal trial lawyers, Kerry and Edwards - - should they keep quiet as well? Have you seen Edwards lately? He's so MEAN! And Kerry's almost as BAD! Did you see how RUDE he was to Smirk last night?</sarcasm>

The thing that the GOP does best is turn the most outspoken, popular Dems into pariahs. It's really easy - - you can take one or more stances of anybody and turn it into the thing that makes them "out of the mainstream". The opposite is also true - - they can take one or two popular stances and ignore the rest of a pol's record to turn Smirk into a "compassionate conservative" or McCain into a "moderate" (when McCain's actually the 4th most conservative member of the Senate). And you can take any two seconds of tape and make anybody look either boring or crazy.

The reason they get away with it time and time again is that we let them. Our side has always been far too eager to trash our own, and toss any Dem who we disagree with even slightly aside like used kleenex.

12. Because CNN said so?
Good grief.

I'll just stay out of this Gore thing, there's nothing I can do about it anyway. I just hope he's the statesman I know he can be, that's all.

15. Any speech by Gore is welcome...
- It's strange that we have democrats telling Gore to 'shut up'. We should gladly welcome all the voices we can get...considering that MOST of the media is controlled by the other side.

- No one should tell anyone else to shut up...especially someone like Gore...who has continued to support the Democratic party AND Kerry even after the party shit on him.

21. President Gore is always welcome
He should speak up about the florida 2000 problem, as a deep and
moving personal reminder of what "NOT" to do this time round.

President Gore is still the president, and if he called for it, even
at this late date, i would support his presidency against the
criminals.

Please win for us Mr. Gore. May you and your loved ones live
a charmed life.

:-)

God Bless PRESIDENT GORE,

-sweetheart

24. We need every all the voices for change that we can get
Al Gore can give a great speech. He doesn't have to scream and I trust he knows it's not a good time to be shrill. We need to go on the offensive and give it our all for the final days.
