Schwarzenegger Says Kerry, Bush Evasive in Debate

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (news - web sites), in candor rare in a heated political season, said on Thursday he was disappointed that both President Bush (news - web sites) and Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) had evaded questions in their final campaign debate.

"Both of them did not answer some of the questions, which I think is upsetting to me," Schwarzenegger told KGO radio in San Francisco. "I think it is much better to be straightforward with the people."

"I mean if you get a question about Iran and about the nuclear power and what you are going to do in the future with this nuclear power, and you don't even answer that question, I think it's a mistake, You know like Kerry did," he continued. "Bush did the same thing in some instances, not really get into it and answer it."

The debate itself, not Arnold's performance, is what I was talking about. I felt the debate *itself*, with Camejo right up there with the rest of the candidates, was a useful one. I also think that AS's he delivered them, no more, no less. The ones without him, as well as the solo Davis appearances, were better.

is trying to appear non-partisan so that the general population, sick of the 2 party system, will view Arnie as a maverick independent, and this, combined with the fact that he is a famous actor, will get him votes from both sides of the aisle plus many independents.

This is why Orrin Hatch is pushing so hard to give naturalized citizens the right to be president of the US. Republicans want Arnie to be the next actor in the WH.
