Oregon Voter's Pamphlet: Dick Cheney missing.
From The Oregonian newspaper, Oct. 14, '04
Section D, page 4.
http://www.oregonian.com/

"The Republican Party chose not to submit a statement or photo of the vice president for the Oregon guide.

SALEM-If you're looking for vice president Dick Cheney's photo and statement in the Oregon Voter's Pamphlet, it's not there. Fred Neal, pamphlet supervisor at the state Elections Division, said Wednesday that the 40-page booklet, mailed to Oregon voters Tuesday night, lacks a separate section on President Bush's running mate because Republicans decided not to file the material.

"I'm confident it was a conscious decision," Neal said.

Neal said he called her back on Aug. 25. She told Neal that she talked to National party officials and that they decided not to file a Cheney statement.
"It certainly perplexed us," Neal said.

OK, you conspiracy theorists. What does this mean? I've got some ideas, but I'd rather read yours.

1. My take ... maybe because people associate him to Halliburton and
he is not liked.

3. The more sinister read is that they could replace him

I wonder if there's any OR law that would have impeded replacement if he were on the ballot.

I really can't imagine that they'd do that but if the slide in the polls continues, who knows what they'll do?

4. I agree
I was doing voter ID calls for Carry Oregon, and several people told me they liked Bush but couldn't vote for him with Cheney on the ticket. Maybe they think voters are stupid and will forget about Cheney if they don't see his picture.

7. Nah, it's just negligence
This means nothing.

If it is purposeful, please explain why, because I don't see how it helps the Republicans.

But please give your take, I could be wrong. :)

9. Cheney is an ugly, mean looking man, a complete asshole...there is no

fucking way he can persuade any voters on the "Left Coast" and if anything, an expose ot the lying pig Cheney would actually lose votes if displayed in Oregon...It's why we don't see Ashcroft before the election, nor Ralph Reed, Jerry Falwell, Dick Perle, Paul Wolfiwitz and even Rummy is under wraps to a certain extent...they don't want to remind people of how ultra-extreme, religious right-wing neo-cons this republican administration really is.

They want to pretend (as they did in 2000) that Bush is in the center, a moderate, what bullshit...these fuckers are such far right-wing fascist...they can't wait to steal this election and really get down to their fascist business of imperialism and taking away what civil rights we have left and premoting slave labor by the way of the corporations, (ala Wal-Mart).

10. Who Wants to Look at Big Dick?
Oregon voters were spared having to look at Cheney's dour, Ebenezer Scrooge face! The rest of us should be so lucky! :)
