Frost airs ad on Sessions, immigrants

A new television commercial for U.S. Rep. Martin Frost includes video of his opponent calling for the use of military planes to immediately deport illegal immigrants.

It shows U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions saying, "We run them down ... and when we capture them, we do not process them. We put them on a military plane and fly them to the southernmost entry point in Mexico."

The ad began running Thursday on Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo.

Mr. Sessions, a Republican, is in a tight race with Mr. Frost, a Democrat, in the newly drawn 32nd Congressional District. Mr. Sessions made the comments during a 1996 speech, said Jesús González, an official for Mr. Frost's campaign.

Sessions campaign officials didn't dispute the authenticity of the video but said the ad misrepresents Mr. Sessions' position on immigration.
