Just in time for Labor Day: Tropical Storm Grace forms in Gulf
Just in time for Labor Day: Tropical Storm Grace forms in Gulf
From staff and wire reports

Mother Nature has delivered a Labor Day-weekend surprise for coastal Texans: a tropical storm has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and at about 4 p.m. was 280 miles east-southeast of Corpus Christi.

Tropical Storm Grace -- at latitude 25.6 north, longitude 93.7 west -- was moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph. It is expected to continue this path for the next 24 hours.

"As far as storms go, it is probably going to be a minimal tropical storm," National Weather Service meteorologist Charles Roeseler said today. "The track takes it in toward the middle Texas coast toward Matagorda Bay."

Meanwhile, the weather service issued a flood watch for all of Southeast Texas, including Harris County, until 6 p.m. Sunday because of the rains associated with Grace.

1. This may sound selfish..
but I'm in Austin (used to live in New Orleans) and I miss that kind of weather. I miss the excitement of running to the grocery store and Home Depot to stock-up on supplies. I miss putting plywood on our house's windows. Geesh.. that was so much fun.. so exciting..

A part of me hopes that Austin will see some of the nasty (but not-boo-nasty) weather. Selfish me.

4. tedoll, well you are very selfish.....being without power for 10 days/NC
Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 06:42 PM by KoKo01
in very hot over 90 degree weather in NC for Hurricand Fran and then being without power for 2 days (lucky on that one) this last year with an Ice Storm....leads me to believe that you are looking for "parties" and were okay....and have never been through a REAL HURRICANE.....with the devastation, disaster..loss of live, food...foraging for ice..trying to sleep with out a fan or breeze in over 90 degree heat or under 40 degree cold........I can't imagine anyone wishing for a "Weather Disaster in any part of America having been through what many of us have been in the last 12 years in the SE part of the US.

It's been terrible......and you wouldn't wish for such a thing to vist you for a "Party." :-(
