On Thursday, JCI told its white-collar employees at its Holland, Plymouth and Warren plants it would eliminate 350 positions as a cost-cutting move. Exactly how many workers will be dropped from each plant is unknown.
Kayser, 53, works at the Holland site as a validation technician in the customer process center -- an area being targeted for cutbacks.

"A lot of the materials we're using to manufacture products have really had dramatic price increases in the past year," Dawson said. "Steel and plastic have skyrocketed, and this job elimination is something we have to do to remain competitive."
