SALEM, Ore. -- Vice President Dick Cheney is missing from a pamphlet Oregonians consult as they ponder who to vote for -- and state officials say they are getting "tons of calls" about the omission.
"People are jumping to the conclusion that we were playing some sort of political game," said John Lindback, the state elections director. "Some of the calls are nasty."
His boss is Secretary of State Bill Bradbury, a Democrat who's been accused by Republicans and others of being overly partisan.
Oregon Republican Chairman Kevin Mannix is coming to Bradbury's defense, an odd twist in this hard-fought election year.
