Bush Uses Radio Address to Pan Kerry
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041016/ap_on_el_pr/bush&cid=694&ncid=716

President Bush used his weekly radio address as a campaign tool Saturday, mentioning his unnamed "opponent" five times to plead the case that he, not Democrat John Kerry, has a better slate of domestic policy ideas.

-snip-

"The results are clear: Over the last three years, America's economy has grown at the fastest rate of any major industrialized nation," he said, and the economy added 1.8 million new jobs in the past 13 months. The economy, though, has lost 821,000 non-farm jobs since Bush took office.

Bush repeated his claim that during the past 20 years, Kerry has voted to raise taxes 98 times, which he has said repeatedly to reinforce his characterization of Kerry as a free-spending liberal. Independent analysis has found the list of 98 votes includes multiple votes for single measures and votes that set targets without having any effect on the tax code.

"I have a better plan," which includes not raising taxes, the president said. "I will continue to be wise with taxpayers' money, and I will keep your taxes low."

Talk about being f'n delusional!!!!!!

11. I'd say it's against FEDERAL LAWS.
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 12:09 PM by TahitiNut
The use of taxpayer-paid government resources for partisan political campaigning is strictly against the law. In this instance, even reimbursement wouldn't obviate the violation.

I would furthermore postulate that every federal employee who worked on this radio broadcast violated the Hatch Act.

3. "I used to be a cowboy, now I am a statesman" - he told Alexandra Pelosi
in 2000. Isn't the radio address a POTUS function? he made it into a campaign tool now?

7. George was never a cowboy. He isn't a statesman.
He sounds like someone in need of a white coat with long sleeves.

8. He was NEVER a cowboy. What an insult to real
cowboys! Real cowboys don't fear horses, don't swagger (nor walk like chimps) they tell the truth and their word is their bond. Bush never was nor ever will be, a cowboy.

4. Is that a first?
Have presidents used their radio addresses for campaign use? That doesn't seem right to me.

6. I just emailed the chimp.
I told him he had no business using his responsibilies as president of all the people as an opportunity to promote his re-election campaign. It's a misuse of the office and abuse of power. I'm sick of his shit.

9. What a joke. Bush's "Saturday Morning Radio Address"
As if Mom and Dad sit down by the big radio in the living room. It's got big knobs, and it takes a minute to tune into the right receiver signal. The whole family is assembled now. Bush is getting ready to speak. Mom shushes the kids who are now sitting nearby and listening.

The family is listening intently now. After all, we're a nation at war. Everyone needs to be united in our common struggle for democracy. Bush's words will make or break their week because they need reassuring words to hang on, for inspiration.

AS IF.

Now, fast forward to 2004. Bush gets done blabbing, reading a pre-written speech by his foremost speechwriter, Stephen Hadley. It always takes Bush a few tries to get it right. Let's face it: he can do this one over as many times as it takes because it's just radio. As a matter of fact, he records this thing on Wednesday afternoon, just before he takes off for golf.

Listenership: maybe 1,760 plus all the radio station people, sound equipment people and technicians. Way to go, Bush.

10. Everything is a campaign/re-election opportunity for these guys.
How much time has Bush/Cheney spent on Republican business vs. the nation's?

It is truely pathetic that they use these taxpayer paid weekly communications as another attack avenue against Kerry. Bush has demeaned and devalued the Office that serves as his playpen.

12. personal attack, personal attack, personal attack... yawn.
The little shit is following his formula, the one he believes
will help him with his takeover.

Lie, personal attack.. (try to sound convincing)

It seems he's really hurting that HE has destroyed more value than
any president in history, (suplus-record debt, millions jobs lost,
and financial market losses). So he's lying to defend the one most
pertinent fact that boardroom people dismiss CEO's for.

It sounds very PC, but the worst insult to levy at a CEO is that they
"destroy value". These criminals will never stop stretching the
envelope, as the lie-bubble reaches this apex.

16. ..."amid strobe lights and swirling smoke"
"Senator Kerry apparently decided supporting the troops even while they were in harm's way was not as important as shoring up his own political position," said Bush, speaking in a 20,000-seat sports arena that appeared about half-full. His campaign bus drove into the darkened arena to deposit the president amid strobe lights and swirling smoke.
