13. This whole thing is surreal to me....
Why in God's name are we even in a war anyway? I can't wrap my mind around how we could allow this to happen. Did we learn nothing from Viet Nam? Is it because I'm of the Viet Nam generation and other younger generations don't know how awful war is? Where are the WWII generation people to speak out against this atrocity? What the f*** do we care about Iraq for anyway? They were better off without us and I hate to say it, they were better off under Saddam.

12. In my opinion the vocabulary of "Professional Whore Media" is terrible
If the helicopter crashed then the soldiers were 'injured'. If their helicopter was shot down then they were 'wounded'.

I am doing everything in my power to bring all our children home now. What are the coward Christian Repukes doing? Don't worry you don't have to answer that because I'll tell ya. They're murdering people all over the world in the name of their religion and their money. Repukes are responsible for all Iraqi and all American deaths. Bush and his Adm. must be tried for Crimes Against Humanity.

8. You must mean 1100 dead....
I think these two from the helicopters make it 1100. I can't see 900 getting killed tomorrow, at least I hope not.

Actually I heard a reporter an CNN say this is not even an escalation in violence they expect, He said it is a very typical day in Iraq lately... :(

14. We Lost 28 US Troops THIS WEEK!
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 05:13 PM by rmpalmer
42 only 16 days in to the month. Last month we lost 80. The rate is 2.62 per day (but Oct started low so it's probably going to go up) which is on pace that more will be lost again this month(Spt was 2.42). As Kerry said - July we lost more than June, August more than July, September more than August.

If * is elected then half this nation are fools deserving this arrogant stupid fool!

I get the feeling if this fool is elected, by inauguration day even many of the fools who voted for him will be regretting it.

19. about 7 per day for 14 years will give you a BIG black wall in DC
also known as the Vietnam Wall Memorial.....

bush* claims a PERPETUAL war...already into THIRD year in Afganistan and one year and 7 months in Iraq....and things look REALLY BAD and getting worse in BOTH wars.....the first few years of Vietnam were just like this, until the whole mess was ESCALATED BIG TIME under a LIE about the Gulf of Tonkin....so many young men were suddenly dragged away by OUR own government...chased down...stopped at the Canadian border....there were NO computers, cell phones, faxes, emails...this time, it'll be SO MUCH EASIER to hunt down and capture draftees...

just like Vietnam Quagmire...expect a DRAFT ASAP, if bush* is re-selected.....

17. Notice that one of the soldiers who allegedly refused
to deliver supplies told his grandfather that the fuel they were supposed to deliver was unsafe and would make the helicopters crash?

Possible connection?

I was wondering the same thing when I listened to that soldier's frantic call to her mom. I wonder if they test it?
Things are so bad there for our soldiers and the Iraqis it makes me sick. :(

24. We had 2 dead from our little city this past week
Actually I don't think the deaths were both during this past week, one of them just wasn't reported until this week. Which makes me wonder about the totals we are seeing.

As if to underscore the polarization of the country, the parent of one of the boys insists his son died "fighting for freedom" while the parent of the other boy (These were BOYS, not men, they were 19 and 20!) is calling out the administration for not providing the troops with the proper equipment.

It just sucks.

28. Anyone Know Anything About Army Helicopters?
<South of Baghdad, two Army OH-58 helicopters went down about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the 1st Cavalry Division said. The deaths of their pilots brought to six the number of American troops killed in two days, following car bombings on Friday that killed four servicemembers. >

....on CNN they said they were Kiawas(sp?). Are these the same thing and are they transport as I have seen somewhere else? There is a lot of mystery still as to the facts of this "crash".

29. OH-58's are observation helicopters in the Cav
They fly overhead and call in fire commands for the artillery or in-unit mortars and for the Apache's and such in their unit. OH-58's are smaller and more manueverable than the big gun ships and the 58's can direct fire (via lasers I think) so the Apache gunships don't have to "unmask" (expose themselves). Pretty impressive if used correctly. Yes they can be used as transport. I had them confused with the bubble copters at first, my bad.

Cav Scout (90-93) but I was freezing my a** off in a Bradley but I knew a couple of the enlisted mechanics in the air squadrons.

30. A 3rd helicopter has been downed in the area
in the area of Radhwaniya south of Baghdad. The
helicopter downed was an Apache whhich was struck by
a "Strella" rocket fired by the Iraqi Resistance
Fighters.

The Stella rockets are responsible for yesterdays downing of
two helicopters.

Islammemo

This is the Latifya fuel depot area.

Where the 650 Brits are supposed to be stationed.
They'll have to fight their way into it.

BTW-the Resistance controls Al Qaim and Hit.

Baghdad - Three people were killed in US air raids on the Iraqi rebel bastion of Fallujah and two US soldiers were killed and two injured when a pair of helicopters collided over southwest Baghdad.
