Kerry Trolls GOP Strongholds in Midwest

APPLETON, Wis. - John Nusbaum, retired after 30 years in the cheese business, voted three times to put a man named Bush in the White House. This year, he's voting for John Kerry (news - web sites).

Nusbaum's upset that Republicans prohibited the government from negotiating bulk discounts when purchasing prescription drugs for the new Medicare prescription drug benefit. He's also a decorated Vietnam veteran and an organizer of Republicans for Kerry.

1. There's no way Kerry is losing any of the Gore states.

Even Iowa and Wisconsin, since they were so close last time only because of the Nader factor, and Nader isn't polling shit this time around.

Kerry will also probably pick up New Hampshire and Ohio, guaranteeing a win, and possibly even Florida, Arkansas, Nevada and some of Colorado's electoral votes.

That doesn't mean this is the time to get complacent, though.

It's growing much too quickly to poll accurately, and the vast majority of the growth leans Democrat.

Colorado would be nice, either part or all of it.

If Kerry's traveling in GOP regions of Wisconsin and Ohio, he's in strong shape there. That means he doesn't have to shore up his base in either of these states.

Kerry and Edwards must be having a blast at all of these small town rallies where they are getting such a great response.

I notice the article mentions a new TV ad Kerry campaign is putting out criticizing Bush over the flu vaccine shortage.
