Residents protest delay of anti-Bush movie

PEMBROKE PINES · Saying they are more interested in freedom of speech than bashing President George W. Bush, Century Village residents are circulating petitions in an attempt to persuade the owner of their clubhouse to show the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 as originally scheduled this month.

Residents began signing the petitions during a gathering of about 50 people outside the clubhouse last week. They had gathered to peaceably demand that C.V.P. Community Center of West Palm Beach show the movie Oct. 27-31, which is before the Nov. 2 presidential election. The new dates are Nov. 14-18.

C.V.P. had scheduled the October dates for the anti-Bush movie months ago, publishing it in its events calendar. In a notice posted in the clubhouse last week, it changed the showing, without explanation, until after the election.

Residents said they were angry not only that management changed the date after announcing it but that it was changed, many of them insisted, at the request of a Bush supporter who didn't want it shown before the election.

Performed there years ago and they have an auditorium that seats about 4000. Big retired Jewish population that is incredibly enthusiastic. I can just imagine them kicking ass and taking names.
