5. I saw a newswhore on MSRNC yesterday morning....
She was asking the Baghdad reporter if the violence on Sat. was because of the start of Ramadan. The reporter said "why no actually, this is a typical day in Iraq lately". If the newswhores were doing their jobs they would know WTF is going on. :grr:

6. They are entertainers
Not reporters

And "investigative reporting" is as common as "dinosaur sightings"

4. we don't need anymore troops, we're all set according to FURIOUS GEORGE!
we'll be sending in the robots soon according to rummy.

will we have to lose all of our troops and material before they will back off roves political ploy of not asking for anything more before the election.

if the clerics call for a jihad after we 'take' falluja how will we ever win the peace

Falluja clerics call for civil disobedience

The statement added that, should the government not heed the appeal, then a call would be made for jihad and a general mobilisation of fighters would begin. Tens of Iraqis have been killed in missile attacks on Falluja.

8. How many more georgie, how many more?

Sam Stone

Sam Stone came home,
To the wife and family
After serving in the conflict overseas.
And the time that he served,
Had shattered all his nerves,
And left a little shrapnel in his knees.
But the morhpine eased the pain,
And the grass grew round his brain,
And gave him all the confidence he lacked,
With a purple heart and a monkey on his back.

There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes,
Jesus Christ died for nothin I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears,
Don't stop to count the years,
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.

Sam Stone's welcome home
Didn't last too long.
He went to work when he'd spent his last dime
And soon he took to stealing
When he got that empty feeling
For a hundred dollar habit without overtime.
And the gold roared through his veins
Like a thousand railroad trains,
And eased his mind in the hours that he chose,
While the kids ran around wearin' other peoples' clothes...

There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes,
Jesus Christ died for nothin I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears,
Don't stop to count the years,
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.

Sam Stone was alone
When he popped his last balloon,
Climbing walls while sitting in a chair.
Well, he played his last request,
While the room smelled just like death,
With an overdose hovering in the air.
But life had lost it's fun,
There was nothing to be done,
But trade his house that he bought on the GI bill,
For a flag-draped casket on a local hero's hill.

There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes,
Jesus Christ died for nothin I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears,
Don't stop to count the years,
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.

10. The never ending war!
It seems that I say the same thing on each post but I have to express my sadness, outrage and pain with every causality.

NOT IN MY NAME!

12. The never-ending war is good
for a military-industrial complex which is roughly 20% of economic turnover.
War is good in Bush's book.

13. Vietnam on Crack
Note: hey, new here, just thought I'd post on this depravity of a war...I remember a Village Voice article calling Iraq "Vietnam in Crack" and as the casualties mount that thought is becoming more and more prescient...it took heartland America a long long time to realize that terrible things were happening over there, but with this war, there just isn't time for reflection...I come from Will County, Illinois, a blue state but a red red township, and when the war started in March 2003 some total fool on the Shorewood Village Board came up with the bright idea of putting a decorative lighthouse in front of the Town Hall, with a lightbulb shining...The sign said "This light will shine till OUR TROOPS COME HOME!" That lightbulb as burned out several times, but the lighthouse and sign are still there, as a sign of a complete and total failure of a war led by somebody who just doesn't care about the consequences. Anyway, peace be with you, DU'ers.

14. Sad, sad, sad.....
I have nothing else to say. It seems like just yesterday the number turned to 1,000. And who is talking about the massive numbers of casualties that are not deaths? That number is outrageous! Oh, but let's slap a little yellow ribbon on the back of our SUV and pretend we're "supporting the troops." The stupidity of some Americans boggles my mind. Or maybe I should say the apathy.
