Kerry for president
Bush hasn't earned a second term

Published 2:15 am PDT Sunday, October 17, 2004

When he campaigned in 2000, George W. Bush said he would be a "uniter, not a divider." The closeness of that election made that unlikely, and the course of his administration has made the very idea preposterous. The nation has paid a steep price for Bush's arrogance - mounting deficits and debt at home, loss of standing and effectiveness abroad.

Based on Bush's record, he does not deserve a second term. Fortunately, there is an alternative. John Kerry offers an experienced, steady choice to lead the nation in a different direction.

Voters have plenty of reasons to deny Bush a second term, but two stand out. Consider the twin centerpieces of the Bush presidency - the war in Iraq and tax cuts.

10. Since when?
From what I recall of the Bee, back in the 1980s, it was reliably Democratic, and even somewhat liberal in its op-ed pages.

Have things changed since then?

5. Very nice. The endorsements...
are stacking up. And they're in favor of Kerry. We're witnessing the same thing here in Portland. The Portland Oregonian newspaper (the biggest newspaper in the state) came out last week and endorsed Kerry.

People can't overestimate the importance of this, because the Oregonian endorsed Bush in 2000. The editorial board overrode the publisher who insisted that they do the same thing in 2004.

Just AWESOME.

9. Bush didn't "deserve" a FIRST term either
Nor did he earn it. Like damn near everything else in his life, he was bailed out.

11. speaking of sacramento...
i live here and my son recounted a story that i had no idea of. he said that a large truck was seen trolling the suburban neighborhoods with a large sign which had a picture of two men kissing. the sign read, "stop gay marriage", "vote for democracy". it reminds me of the anti-abortion sign with the dismembered fetuses that was going around on a truck.

these assholes are DESPERATE!
