Monument to Mark Paul Wellstone Crash Site
A new memorial will honor the late Sen. Paul Wellstone, his wife and daughter, and five others who died in a plane crash in 2002.

The design of the Wellstone Memorial and Historic Site is scheduled to be unveiled Tuesday near the crash site, which is in a swamp two miles south of the Eveleth airport.

Wellstone, his wife Sheila and their daughter, Marcia Markuson, along with three campaign workers and two pilots, were killed on Oct. 25, 2002, just days before the Senate election.

3. I met a bunch of nice old ladies
...on the beach one day. Normal women, who raised their families, voted Democratic, lived their lives. Nearing or at 80, most of them. No tin foil hats, no conspiracy theorists among them. Not tech savvy, not internet mavens, they watched the evening news and read the local paper.

Every single one of them told me they thought someone screwed with his plane. I have to say it, I put nothing past anyone. This is a dark time in our history, and I too mourn the loss of that beacon of light.

6. IIRC, two political opponents of Ashcroft killed in plane accidents....
amazing coincidence.

Doesn't change my sadness about Wellstone, though.

5. I'm never going to forget the Wellstones.
I am glad their memory is to be honored. In the meantime, the two sons and others are keeping their legacy alive. We need millions more Paul and Sheila Wellstones in this world (and we have them; perhaps we just don't yet know their names).

in St. Paul. Died on my birthday. Never forget. Wellstone signs still abound hereabouts. Now we have that awful Bush puppet Coleman. Thank GOD for Mark Dayton...who is obviously "watching his back" these days.

11. You were very lucky to know them personally
Coleman was a hand maiden of Bushit. That is why Paul needed to die. OMG I hate these people. We need to do some on DU on 10/25....and we will blow you a birthday kiss.

14. Maybe Al Franken will take Coleman's seat the next time it's up
Coleman needs to be sent back to wherever they found him. He's nothing but a puppet for the right. Has he ever had a thought of his own?

15. That's the WHOLE point
Has he ever had a thought of his own? THE Neocons do not want free thinkers. They want a country that drinks koolaid. Do you any thug thats disagrees with Bushit & Co?

I had praised Buchanan.....BUT he finally backed Bushit today..they never change

18. He was a "Democrat" wink wink
nudge nudge until about 1998 or so.

I had to hold my nose and vote for the SOB when he was running for mayor of St . Paul as the democratic candidate, but I sure didn't enjoy it (but what can you do when he's the only "D"?).
