Democrats Signing Up More New Voters
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041018/ap_on_el_pr/winning_the_new_voters&cid=694&ncid=2043

The Democrats appear to be gaining the upper hand in the battle to sign up new voters in the all-important swing states, an Associated Press analysis suggests.

The AP analysis of the most up-to-date figures from across the country found that the Democrats have registered more new voters than the Republicans have in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and New Hampshire, while the GOP has done better in Iowa and appears to be holding its own in Florida.

Florida registration tallies from more than half the counties show that the Republicans and the Democrats are virtually tied in the race to increase their share of voters in the state that decided the presidential election four years ago. In those counties, the Republicans have signed up just a few thousand more.

As for the two other big prizes among the swing states — Pennsylvania and Ohio — Pennsylvania's numbers are too scant to draw any conclusions, and Ohio does not register voters by party.

16. Should I assume you are familiar with the events of 2000
in Florida? Ofcourse swami knows more because he has a Masters
degree from U of Iowa, the bastion of progressive thinking.
That is probably higher than you may have achieved? Just my
wild ass assumption.

15. Gore won that state
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 09:16 PM by fujiyama
because of absentee/mail in ballots...and apparently the state partymachine has been working well to get them out this time. I heard that a lot more democrats had requested these ballots already.

Bush actually got more votes from those that actually voted that day.

I'll try to find the numbers. The registration numbers were also very encouraging. Republicans have an advantage in registration numbers but it has eroded over the last few years. Dems have had a huge voter outreach there.

9. new registrants
It's great to see that the DNC has more new registrants. But while they already had the majority of voters in the 2000 elections, there is still no guarantee of a win next month if the vote count is rigged!
