Rockford, Illinois- A Michigan-based company with several stateline locations announces layoffs at one of their Rockford facilities. Three-hundred-ten workers from Textron Precision Formed Products received WARN letters Monday. The letter indicates their last day will be December 17.

Throughout the past year, 120 employees have been laid off from this Textron plant.

The workers say, since they are part of the UAW union, they are guaranteed a severance package.

2. Mitsubishi and its suppliers are hurting.
It isn't limited to just the Rockford plant. Textron is a supplier for Mitsubishi autos, and the problems are rooted there. Mitsubishi in Bloomington, IL has really had a lot of problems that have impacted several plants. They have announced that they are eliminating the third shift (or that they plan to) and that has been bad news for anyone associated with them.

I was told recently that there have been appeals to the state and to local taxing bodies for funding and for tax assistance to keep Textron and a few others up and running. From what I understand, the Textron plant in Rantoul is also having problems.

I'm sorry to hear it.
