Bush Wants Cargo Planes to Aid Sudan
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- President Bush on Monday told the Pentagon to make two U.S. transport planes available to aid African peacekeeping forces seeking to end a humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region of western Sudan.

A White House statement issued as Bush campaigned in Florida, said the president had directed Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to make the planes available to the African Union, or AU, for two weeks, starting at the end of October.

The military planes will help transport fresh troops that part of a 4,500-soldier contingent to be deployed to Darfur by the African Union by the end of next month.

"The United States is working with other international partners ... to support the AU expansion of the mission," said the White House statement.

2. This hardly even qualifies as a token effort.
Two planes from the USA for two weeks. Whoopee.

What a tragedy that Bush has totally squandered our military resources. We have nothing available to respond to other emergencies now. Oh but we're safer - - yeah right.

3. Operation Token Support
I have a feeling this will be Bush's Rwanda. Wow, TWO planes. Freedom is certainly on its way to Darfur.

5. Maybe Pat Robertson's Operation Blessing
can lend him a few planes? Oh that's right, Pat is too busy plundering Africa's diamonds and gold, to tie them up helping the people in Sudan.
