Bush Adviser Lays Under Air Force One (Rove, WTF?)
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 01:01 AM by oldhat
Um, whiskey tango foxtrot?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20041018/ap_on_fe_st/rove_antic

McGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. - Karl Rove laid himself on the line Monday for his boss, the president of the United States.

That is, he laid himself under the wheels of Air Force One. Reason: Unclear, but it seems to have been an inside joke between Rove and President Bush (news - web sites).

Returning to the aircraft after Bush's foreign policy speech, the two men traded words. As Bush climbed the stairs, his top political adviser set his briefcase down in front of the tires and stretched out on the ground with his back to the wheels.

Rove stood back up moments later; a smiling Bush waved from the plane and they both got aboard.

"It was a humorous moment on the campaign trail," was all Bush campaign spokesman Scott Stanzel would say about Rove's antic.

Edit: Added link and came to the conclusion that Rove is indeed Jabba the Hutt.

37. Hey, I like the song (site) linked in your ...
sig line.

I'm not a big fan of country music, but I like some of the classics. My Dad likes both kinds of music (country and western), and I grew up watching Hee-Haw on saturday nights.

I do like "Takin' My Country Back". It is great to see that not all of the people in this industry are as pig-headed and backwards as some others.

Cheers

because it was a joke. He probably had a bet with Bubba Bush and lost. "If blankety-blank blanks, I'll throw myself in front of Air Force One". Of course that doesn't mean the bet was based on something silly. Could have lost big time (how WAS Bush's foreign policy speech, anyway?)...and was attempting to make light of it.

In fact, I take it as indictative even further that KR will do anything for *, anything. I remember the passage I read in the KK book about how KKKarl still remembers the day he met *; he can still recall exactly what the idiot had on. Rove is consumed with *; totally consumed and it's not pretty.

Are they are cracking under the strain of an impending election loss? Or is it the possibility of prison that has Rove losing it?

Imagine if this happened on the Kerry campaign. The echo chamber would be having fits. Think of what they did to Gore and Dean for much smaller beer.

Pardons all around after kerry wins on the 2nd.

I would not at all be surprised if there was a death threat conversation like this

Rove: I swear to god you will.
Bush: You wanna know what will happen if I don't? Get outside and get under the tire then fu**ing think.

62. I actually agree that jail is unlikely, at least over Iraq
Even if Kerry wins, the Iraq invasion (which many jurists consider nicely fits the definition of war crimes) will be given a pass. It would be extremely unusual for the leadership strata of a society to tie its hands that way, absent of loss of war or revolution. Even if Kerry was enthusiastic for the idea, he would soon be reminded of the limits of one man within a power structure. Think, the first JFK.

Rove may still get some heat for outing Plame, though.

Seriously disturbing scene there. If this indeed was a "humorous moment on the campaign trail" then these folks have a very sick sense of humor. In fact, it seems as though it is starting to border on the delusional paranoia one sees in meth freaks and those with a bipolar disorder.

And these are the leaders of the "free" world:scared:

for 2 1/2 hours on the Plame matter, me thinks this doesn't pass the sniff test. The look on his face looks like a man cracking - it is one of pain and anguish in my opinion. I highly doubt this was any joke, just their "explanation/spin" of what was probably a crisis moment. Just my opinion of course.

65. Who wouldn't have paid the pilot to release the parking brake?
Any takers? Let's take up a collection.

They are so bizarre!

I wonder if the pilot heard him beg?

67. The more I look at this picture
the less it looks like Rove is yukking it up.

It's the same position people tend to assume when they're breaking down and crying - like the Iraqi people who have lost their homes/families and fall on their knees like this, sobbing.

I just don't think it was "antics", I think he wigged out.

69. reminds me of tianamen square/tank guy....
Yeah, it doesn't look to me like it was some sort of an inside joke. Looks more like a meltdown to me, too. Maybe the pressure is finally starting to get to this administration. During the first debate, I thought Bush was a heartbeat away from throwing up his hands and finally admitting his mistakes at letting Cheny's comrades rush the country to war.

Maybe Carl Rove is equating the Bush/Wolfowitz doctrine and war in Iraq with the tianamen square massacre...
