Americans throng Cape Town consulate to vote
Americans turned out in the hundreds to cast absentee ballots in Cape Town on Tuesday, taking consular officials by surprise and indicating high expatriate interest in the US presidential election.

US citizens queued inside the Cape Town Consulate to cast their ballots for the November 2 poll pitting President George Bush against Democratic challenger Senator John Kerry.

"This is phenomenal, I think it is a reflection as to how seriously people take this election," Consul General Moosa Valli told Reuters. "We never expected this turnout, there is a lot of enthusiasm.
