4. I am not happy with this.
We should not compromise or stop the pressure. NO broadcasting medium should editoralize on either candidate and portray it as news period.
If this was the History or Discovery channel I believe that is ok.

18. Definitely
Besides, negative advertising (the BS movie they plan to play) is more effective than positive advertising.

8. I do not understand this part:
"Deborah Rappaport will discuss her offer to the Sinclair Broadcasting Group to purchase time to air the highly regarded film "Going Upriver""

Having to PURCHASE the time would just prove of Sinclair's "in kind" contribution, wouldn't it?

Who cares. I will send $$$ to help air it. I watched it online this morning and had to pause it several times because of tears.

11. sadly
the "fairness doctrine" is deader than a doornail. Has been for quite some time. Hitting Sinclair's pocketbook (through their stock and through advertisers) is the best strategy imho.

13. We shouldn't have to PURCHASE the airtime.
That said, it does back Sinclair into a corner. Could be interesting.

14. Equal time
Since this "Stolen Honor" crapumentary is an attack on what Kerry was doing in 1971, wouldn't it be equal to show a doc on what George Bush was doing in the early 70's? And just as relevant to kids coming home in body bags from Iraq today (sarcasm)

Seriously, what unimportant bullshit...Sinclair should get axed for good when Kerry takes office

pro-Kerry as the anti-Kerry polemic. The idea that anyone should have to pay a station to run a movie on TV is nutso. It just proves that the anti-Kerry documentary is essentially an in-kind political contribution.

20. Here is a bio of the person making the offer, she is a life long Kerry...
The first time that Deborah Rappaport worked for John Kerry, she was 14 years old and he was in his first political race, an unsuccessful attempt at Congress in 1972 in the Boston suburbs. She remembers knocking on doors and being crestfallen when he lost the primary.

Today, she's not knocking on doors, at least not literally. But she's using her money and media savvy to try to reach millions of young voters on Kerry's behalf.

She and her husband, Andy, a general partner at August Capital, a Menlo Park venture capital firm, have emerged as two of the most important Democratic donors locally for groups striving to put out issue ads to sway voters.

In this election cycle, the Rappaports have given at least $3 million to liberal-leaning groups and Democratic causes and candidates, according to records on Opensecrets.org.
