Edwards Criticizes Rice Over Speeches
WASHINGTON - Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites), the White House national security adviser, is giving a flurry of speeches in political battleground states in the closing days of the campaign, bringing allegations from Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites)'s camp that she is injecting herself into the presidential race.

"George Bush (news - web sites) will go to any length to cling to power, even if it means diverting his national security adviser from doing her job," Sen. John Edwards (news - web sites), Kerry's running mate, said Wednesday. "It's time for a fresh start with a White House whose priority will be to focus on doing everything to make our country safer — period."
..........
Records provided by the White House show Rice has given 68 speeches since the beginning of the administration four years ago and that most of them were in the Washington, D.C., area. Traditionally, the national security adviser does not become involved in politics in an overt way.

"For all its fearmongering on the war on terror, this White House has a greater commitment to its political security than to our national security," Edwards said in Canton, Ohio. "The fact is that the violence in Iraq (news - web sites) is spiraling out of control, Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) remains at large and North Korea (news - web sites) and Iran have increased their nuclear capabilities. With all this going on, Condi Rice shouldn't take the time to go on a campaign trip for George Bush."

1. I thought they were supposed to
stay out of the fray as far as the campaigning goes. Isn't that why Powell and Rumsfeld didn't attend the RNC?

5. Anh, so Condi isn't in Washington to not think about things
It's not like she's got the most active imagination or the clearest thought processes of anyone on God's green earth. And since she's solely a figurehead for this corrupt administration, designed to dupe the gullible, it's not like her "expertise" will be missed.

On the other hand, Edwards has an excellent point about this administration's willingness to sacrifice anything, even national security, on the altar of political expediency.

13. Now wait a minute there!
"it's not like she's got the most active imagination or the clearest thought processes of anyone on God's green earth."

When it comes to figuring out how Gorbechev is going to hold out against the hardliners, she's got some really insightful thoughts!" *sarcasm off* :eyes:

8. Breaking News! Dr Rice is NOT campaigning!
Actually she is on the road networking to find a new job. It is looking more & more like there will be a big lay-off coming @ the lie-house in early '05.

10. somewhere in the bowels of the Admin, an analyst has a list of lies
contained in the * and Condi speeches.

But, without any actionable intelligence, complete with Flight Numbers and seat assignments, these lies are insignificant to the National Security Advisor.

The biggest breach in National Security on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor, and the National Security advisor is campaigning for another term. Ingenius.

16. John Edwards is good medicine.
I thought he was just a bit too Sunday-School-teacher-like in the debate with Dick F. Cheney (I add the 'F' to commemorate the VP's remark to Patrick Leahy), but in most of the campaign appearances, he seems genuine and lively and effective.

The junior Senator from New York must be cracking her knuckles over his obvious appeal to voters.
