Missouri plane crash kills 8
Two people survive; five still missing

Wednesday, October 20, 2004 Posted: 12:34 PM EDT (1634 GMT)

KIRKSVILLE, Missouri (AP) -- Emergency crews searched woods and open fields early Wednesday for possible survivors of a commuter plane crash that killed at least eight people but left two others with only broken bones.

The American Airlines-affiliated Corporate Airlines plane, a twin-engine turboprop, crashed in the woods a few miles short of the Kirksville airport where it was preparing to land. Five people were missing, and the cause of the crash had not been determined.

5. In Missouri?
Wouldn't be any point this time.

I doubt Farmer has much chance against Bond.

10. I wouldn't count this smart and passionate
woman out just yet. She has a big constituency in Greater KC as well as St. Loo.

Six more years of Bond is not something many of us relish.

12. Farmer
I'd love to see her win, and I'll be voting for her, but I'm not holding my breath.

Her one commercial (that I've seen in St. Louis) hasn't impressed me much, either. It's on par with the Hanaway commercial, quality-wise. (Hanaway being the Repub State House Speaker running for...Secretary of State, I think?)

15. Glad to hear that you support her candidacy and,
yes, my sense is that most of the statewide races are going to be close.

I really like both of Nancy Farmer's commercials running: (a) the grocery store dialogue showcases her natural high personability and, (b) where she is driving the car and has the Bond bubblehead doll bopping around while Nancy embarks on a scathing, but deftly done, recital of Bond's errant policies.

For me, C. Hanaway's hair salon ad was clever but grates after one viewing.

Robin Carnahan should win that Secty. of State contest. Am also pulling for Maria Chappelle-Nadal for state rep. in the U. City area;
I like Jeanne Kirkton over (Michael?)Gibbons in a battle over Gibbons going against 70+% of constituency voting against concealed carry.

Less than 2 weeks now...I think that Missouri will come out "bluer" than many might assume.

17. I hope you're right
I'm pretty disillusioned after August.

Makes me feel like I'm surrounded by rw religious nutjobs.

My US and State Reps will still be Dems, regardless. Fraser, my state rep, has no competition, and Clay...if Farr beats Clay, I'm outta here. The guy has no plan. In the League of Women Voters voting guide for the primary, Farr said his main concern was the FMA. Oh, and taxes. Didn't say what about taxes, just added taxes as an afterthought.
