American Jewish Groups Object to Presbyterians' Meeting With Hezbollah
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGBXSLE1K0E.html

NEW YORK (AP) - Two national Jewish organizations Wednesday sharply criticized a Presbyterian Church delegation for meeting in Lebanon with leaders of the terrorist group Hezbollah.

The American Jewish Committee said the Presbyterians had "lent legitimacy to what American government officials call the 'A-Team' of global terrorists" and delivered "a blow to peace efforts in the region." It called on the Presbyterian Church "to repudiate immediately" the delegation's actions.

Anti-Defamation League director Abraham Foxman said he found it "irresponsible" and "deeply disturbing" that Presbyterian leaders would seek to meet "members of a terrorist organization that is directly responsible for attacks against both Americans and Israelis and that has repeatedly denounced America and Israel as enemies of Islam."

Foxman also objected that the Rev. Ronald Stone, a retired social ethics professor at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, was quoted on Hezbollah's satellite TV network as saying "relations and conversations with Islamic leaders are a lot easier than dealings and dialogue with Jewish leaders," and that "we treasure the precious words of Hezbollah and your expression of good will towards the American people."

1. Damn those pesky Presbyterians and their "fact finding."
They ain't fundamentalist and they ain't born again and that means they ain't goin' to hebbin and they eat dead babies.

Give me a break. God forbid we ever look at both sides as human beings.

11. Nah, that's the Lutherans.
Heh. I was born and raised Missouri Synod Lutheran, but married into Presbyterian. I really like my new denomination, but I sure do miss that German Potato salad. :-)

12. Too bad
There is nothing objectionable to the event as it was, except that there was a shirt that was not properly pressed and ironed. I would file a complaint to the ADL about that, but they said it was not frivilous enough. I actually saw a bit of this on al-Manar, though I didn't recognize the signifigance of it at the time (skimmed through most of that b/c, if memory serves).

The ADL & AJC should lay low, as they're front orgs for a fair bit of "terrorism" in their own right.

21. be gentle with that..
b-day's in a few weeks, there will be enough of that then.. I thought this kind of kink was kept to the Lounge, but I won't complain. :)

Looked around on my drive for this b/c, but I probably deleted it. Quite a lot was massacred to make room for the Porcupine Tree things..

20. After all the ADL did for Mel Gibson's wallet, we can only hope that

the Presbyterians will enjoy similar good fortune as a result of their auspicious moment to bask in the ADL's golden glow.

14. God, Hezbollah is ¨a guerilla group, not a terrorist one
While it has tie to terrorist factions, it has other purposes in existing.

CIA has ties with terrorist groups too.

This kind of rhetoric is why people aren't educated about all the complexities of the I/P conflict.
