3. This was in a piece about John McCain from al-Jazeera...interesting
Senator presses Bush on Muslim troops

Monday 01 September 2003, 9:40 Makka Time, 6:40 GMT

...snip

Friday's bombing in Najaf has fuelled the anger of Iraq's Shia community who make up about 53% of the population, but who were oppressed by Saddam's Sunni elite.

Two Saudi citizens have been arrested after the Najaf attack, when they sent an email saying “mission accomplished: the dog is dead”.

The men were grabbed by a crowd in Najaf on Saturday, the day after the bombing and taken to a police station after being seen sending the mail from an Internet café, an anonymous source was quoted by a London-based newspaper as saying.

The two suspects apparently attracted the attention of the son of the café owner after having “offered a larger than usual sum of money to use a computer,” said the British daily on Monday.

It was then that the son saw the men send a message saying, “mission accomplished: the dog is dead”.

13. ...was
...looks like a Freeping in progress, WMD is up to 18%, those people really have nothing better to do.

I found this artice interesting in that they actually talk about neo-conservatives, Wolfowitz, the cabal, etc. I would die from shock if I saw that here.

7. Heavy traffic on aljzeera.net.
Got in but very slow. Must be heavy traffic. Appears to be a good media page. US won't like it because it has coverage the US can't control

with a Message from Netscape. This is a Home computer, not a
business, so I don't know WTF.

The fact that this happens shows that AlJazeera tells the Truth.

15. The rightwingers don't want Americans to get their news elsewhere
Unfortunately, they also get a lot of help from "centrist" Democrats in things such as a travel ban to Cuba. Gawd forbid that Americans were to find out for themselves how idiotic, and criminal, US policy has been towards Cuba and the Cuban people.

21. Cuban-Americans can travel to Cuba and take up to $3,000 with them
The rest of us idiots are fined for going to Cuba and are charged with "trading with the enemy."

Both major political parties are indebted to the campaign contributions of Miami Cubans, whose money have held US policy hostaqge to their reactionary ideology.

19. Wow! Real news from an Arab perspective
While I cannot call news from aljazeera unbiased I can say it will be a breath of fresh air. They tried to launch an English site following the start of US hostilities on Iraq but it was attacked so often it didn't come up.

Back in March or April a friend, working at an insurance company in Oklahoma, said he tried to access aljazeera and received an email from the company's admin stating that Homeland Security could be monitoring sites and to be careful which sites are visited on company owned computers.

Well, I'll bookmark it tomorrow when I get back to my labor camp. In the same area where I have DU and St Louis Indymedia.

then I say..."Welcome to DU, english.aljazeera.net!" :hi:

US Attacked Over "Green Card" Soldiers

(Photo Caption) The poor and disenfranchised are in the US front lines in Iraq

Nearly 40,000 of America's frontline soldiers...do not count English as their first language...a significant minority of troops fighting under the US banner are not in fact US citizens, but residents hoping to speed up their citizenship...

In a country where further education is prohibitively expensive, and medical care privatised, these incentives deliberately target America's poor minorities, as well as those desperate for citizenship, freeing the sons and daughters of those with money and influence from service...

...It can take several years to gain citizenship, for those lucky enough to get it. Signing up to the army can speed this up, provided the GI comes home alive...

BBC.

Things are heating up in Iraq. Thank god for a news agency who can infiltrate and get us info, IF our troops don't shoot them first.
