Palm Beach County poll woes
Palm Beach County’s early voting system continues to misfire as it moves into its fourth day.Case in point. County Commissioner Burt Aaronson was called to the election site at the county library in West Delray Wednesday morning after voters complained that all the pamphlets explaining the eight constitutional amendments on the ballot were in Spanish
The commissioner also said he had to send a member of the county staff to Supervisor of Elections Theresa LePore’s office because he could not reach her by phone.

Century Village resident Jim Solt offered a frustrating tale of his decision to vote on Monday. “I went to the West Boca library, I got there about 9:15, and there were about 100 people. I noticed the line wasn’t moving. So one election official came out and he strongly suggested we go home. I stayed until 11:15, when the problem was fixed. But it was still a hassle.”

Manning, Aaronson and others are taking LePore to task for messing up the process. In fact, Manning, a World War II veteran, offered an emotional indictment. “The right to vote is something people die for,” he said. “I saw my friends die in front of my eyes.”

1. Taking the day off after election day
Too much news will be important to see and I am not sure I want to be on the roads when it all goes to shit :)

When Kerry wins, might just put a big sign on my car saying something like "Regime Change - good for iraq, good for America - thanks for the votes!" or something like that.

4. Well, why can't we?
I plan to visit the West Delray Library location mentioned in the article today. I have no idea what I will do when I get there but if there are shenanigans going on I can at least observe it and then scream bloody murder to anyone who will listen.

5. Take a video camera with you.
And maybe a small tape recorder.

6. Why the hell didn't she resign after the 2000 debacle?
What surprised me most was that when interviewed, she actually took pity on herself. Her ballot design in 2000 wasn't just a poor choice, it was an illegal ballot design, and we all learned why it was illegal.

And I don't think she took any responsibility for it. The Board of Supervisors in the county should have demanded her resignation and not left her office until they got it.

she recently headed to florida from her gated community in texas leading her well-financed "mighty texas republican strike force".

be on the lookout for a 5'2" 210-lb she-creature with bad dentures wearing a red, white and blue outfit.

pat's up to no good.

8. I will be a poll monitor in West Palm Beach....
on election day. I'm so excited, even though I know it is going to be a nightmare, probably. I'm not surprised at the stories coming out of south Florida regarding early voting. The repukes that run this state will do anything to make sure the governor's brother wins... but not if we can help it!

Last I heard, there will be several HUNDRED poll monitors in West Palm Beach alone! They will be in 17 states, and 35 cities. If you are interested, go to www.electionprotection.org . See you at the polls!
