Wal-Mart Finds 'Daily Show' Book Racy
Wal-Mart canceled an order for a best-selling book by Jon Stewart and the writers of "The Daily Show" after executives learned that it contained a photo of nine naked, aged bodies, each with the superimposed head of a Supreme Court justice.

"America (The Book)," a mock school text that lampoons the American government in much the same way the Comedy Central show spoofs the news, includes cutouts of the justices' robes and a caption asking readers to "restore their dignity by matching each justice with his or her respective robe."

Executives for the Bentonville-based retail giant deemed the book inappropriate for its shelves this week.

"We were not aware of the image that was in the book (when Wal-Mart ordered it) and we felt the majority of our customers would not be comfortable with it," said Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokeswoman Karen Burk. "We offer what we think our customers want to buy. That just makes good business sense."

1. The beauty is they can sell anything they want
The beauty is further defined that until total fascism takes over in Amerika

I can refuse to shop there and remind anyone who wants to listen, that WallyMart is a Corporate Thug, Hoodlum and Exploiter of the poor.

2. Will they also be banning all loofahs and
the Falafel King's childrens book? I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm an adult and I've been damaged for life, think of the children for the love of God. How will we ever explain it to the children?

7. Aaaah, monopolies w/ a twist . . .
A return to the large monopolies of the late 1800s with a twist. This time it spews censorship too.

The media censors. And Wal-Mart censors. Lovely. What's next? Shall we have a nice book-burning too? Folks wearing large "S's" on their chest for slandering? "P" for profanity? "H" for heretic?

10. Thank God we have Wal Mart........
These people steal from Americans every day by taking over towns and forcing the local governements to cover the medical costs etc of their underpaid employees but oh, let someone put something racy in a book and they are quick to stand up for American values. Hypocrites is too nice a word for these people....America would be a bette rplace without Wal Mart

add your article to previous thread if you wish

Helpful hints to avoid duplicates:
Read the Latest Breaking News forum first before posting. Look for high count threads for obvious stories that have a lot of interest and that have been posted previously.
Do a search of a just a few keywords. Running just the title sometimes does not bring up results.
If you don't have the search option because you don't donate, consider donating, or look on the right column of the latest page. Scan the column for posts made in the last day.
