Dems Take Issue With $1 In Vitter Campaign Letter
http://www.theneworleanschannel.com/politics/3837039/detail.html

NEW ORLEANS -- The Democratic Party on Wednesday took issue with a Republican congressional candidate who is sending out campaign letters with a $1 bill inside.

Rep. David Vitter says he has done nothing wrong. He said the letter went out only to people who have already contributed to his campaign, and it urged them to send the dollar back as a donation.

1. It's a bizarre stunt, but...
...if he really did only send it to people who have made monetary donations to his campaign, he's in the clear. There's no law against giving back people's camapaign contributions.

3. There is a law, however...
... requiring to-the-penny campaign accounting, which must be filed quarterly (publicly).

Each penny donated and disbursed must be verified and justified.

It will be interesting to see this guy's quarterly filing.

2. If I received one of these letters, I'd tell them that my vote
is worth a lot more than a buck! They'd have to send me billions before I would consider voting for one of those suckers.

6. What is the point?
If I was a contributer, I would think this was just a bunch of wasted money on postage to send a dollar back and forth. Is the guy stupid?
