Cheney slams Kerry's Senate record

TRAVERSE CITY, Michigan (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney pressed his attack on John Kerry's national security credentials Wednesday, saying the Democratic presidential nominee was trying to conceal a history of weakness.

"He is trying to hide it, cover it up, by using a little tough talk during the course of this campaign," Cheney told cheering supporters at a rally. "It won't work. ... John Kerry does not have the judgment or the conviction that America needs in a president."

Earlier, Cheney told a group of about 100 in the Flint-area community of Clio that Kerry had a "pre-9/11 mindset."

His record in the Senate "does not instill in me any confidence that he would aggressively pursue the war on terror the way I think it needs to be pursued," the vice president said.

Mark Brewer, spokesman for the Michigan Democratic Party, said Bush and Cheney had failed to secure weapons of mass destruction stockpiles while leaving the nation's ports unprotected.

1. Oddly he never proves his attack about Kerry's senate record. . .l

Hell he's provided less evidence of that than he did of WMD's in Iraq, and we all know how that turned out.

4. How About CHENEY'S Record????
He voted against the Martin Luther King holiday.

He voted against Head Start.

And he was the ONLY member of Congress to vote against a resolution calling on South Africa to release Nelson Mandella from prison.

9. He also voted against banning plastic guns
which can be smuggled on airliners.

He was one of like 3 out of 550 congresscritters.

Cheney is insane.

I'm glad he opened up voting records. Kerry can SMUSH him on that one.

5. Hey Dick
tell us something about your record. I've heard it speaks volumes about your sordid past.

How do you spell "South Africa"? How do you spell "gutting the military"?

You are concealing a history sir, a rather despicable one.

6. BCCI anyone?
Kerry showed just how effective he can be with money trails and prosecuting those who sponsor terrorism. See, that's how you fight terror, not by invading irrelevant countries like Iraq.

Cheney is the guilty one of cutting all those weapons programs. I can't believe he gets away with pinning that on Kerry.

10. That truly must be
The only thing they have left
"Kerry has no plan because he didnt tell us"
Dick, the only reason you now view nukes as a threat is because JK viewed it as threat #1 in the first debate. Any new Idea you have gotten in the past 2 months you stole from democrats. Please excuse us for not telling you how we plan to fix your mistakes as we feel you will claim these ideas as your own. You had 3 1/2 years-times up-thanks for playing-good bye!

11. Yeah, really
I don't understand why Kerry doesn't bring up BCCI more. The "I've been fighting terrorism since before you got into politics." That'd make a nice, concise sound bite!
