Bush Attacks Kerry's 'Intrusive' Health Plan
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=6575007

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (Reuters) - President Bush on Thursday blamed the nation's health care woes on a "litigation culture" protected by Democratic rival John Kerry, and accused him of planning to give government sweeping powers to decide "who gets the coverage and how much care you get."

With less than two weeks left in the campaign, Bush shifted his focus from national security to health care reform, the centerpiece of Kerry's domestic agenda and an issue on which the Democrat leads in the polls.

Bush derided the Massachusetts senator as an advocate of "bigger and more intrusive government," and emphasized repeatedly that lawsuits against doctors and hospitals were "hurting the quality of life" for everyday Americans.

2. Heck yeah, it's intrusive!
Jes' cause a feller's got some fancy diplomas framed on his wall, ya gonna let him just poke and prod you wherever he feels like it? Under the Bush health care plan, you'll never have a doctor "examine" you ever! And the greatest part of the Bush health care plan is its simplicity: Don't get sick.

See, if ya get sick, why, that's a choice, isn't it? People who decide they wanna be sick, why should they get health care, when people who stay healthy all their lives don't get health care at all? I'm sure the American people know what I'm talkin' about, all folksy and direct like this.

3. WHAT?!
intrusive? This coming from the shrub who has called for computerized medical records for everyone? Kinda fits nicely into the TIAA project, which is rumored to still be alive and kicking.

As if the shrub is some harbinger of freedom and personal liberty. Good god, man!

4. it is amazing how bush can take the sins of his own making
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 04:45 PM by flordehinojos
since bush's giving to the big insurance companies opens the doors for them, THE INSURANCE COMPANIES, "TO DECIDE WHO GETS THE COVERAGE AND HOW MUCH CARE YOU GET" and foist it on Kerry and the Democrats as if it were their sin.

And ... what really is hurting the quality of life for every American is bush's giveaway to the rich, the corporations and the insurance companies, in other words, the fascist privatization of America.

The Spanish name for Bush is DESCARADO meaning barefaced impudent.

5. "centralized health been tried in foreign nations, and did not work"
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 05:04 PM by oscar111
Oh?

20 nations outlive us, and they all have nationalized healthcare.

Our privatized mess is ranked 37th, THE WORLD HEALTH REPORT, UN'S WHO.. 2000.

Our population's health status is seventy second. right, 72!

72nd, and we pay more than anyone else.

Greedhead doctors have played the american people for fools, suckers and rubes.

Nationalize EVERY CORNER of healthcare, including flu vaccine... no more "incentives to companies".

7. both ... doctors and corporate medicine
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 05:15 PM by oscar111
forty percent of drs are their own boss... look at their arbitrary fees, if you wonder why you pay skyhigh amounts for health costs.
This elephant in the living room is never mentioned on tv news.
Only some other villans.

doctors could take on ALL the poor as charity patients.. obviously, they chose not to.

doctors could make house calls... since it is up to them and them alone to decide. 40% of them are in solo practice. Blame is on them for no house calls.

WTF? Didn't Kerry say it was completely voluntary? How much less intrusive could it be?

I think the Kerry campaign should make it an issue--why not e-mail them with this suggestion? "Apparently, the President thinks that the health care plan he and the members of the House and Senate have is inadequate and intrusive...Funny that he hasn't complained about it or taken steps to change it before we proposed extending it to the rest of the country."

12. I have that govt health plan
My husband's a govt. employee, so I am covered under that "intrusive" plan. We got a booklet of plans to pick from; we opted for blue cross blue shield.

That's it. That's the big "government" plan. You can pick from a bunch of insurers that already exist.

Maybe Bush is projected his own paranoia about getting his physical onto the rest of us.
