Eminem Talks Bush Song
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 08:11 PM by Kanzeon
Eminem's upcoming album, Encore, due November 16th, features the fierce anti-Bush song "Mosh," which was leaked online today.
In the Dr. Dre-produced track, the rapper denounces the war in Iraq. "Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell," Eminem raps. "We gonna let him know/Stomp, push, shove, mush, fuck Bush!/Until they bring our troops home." Later in the song, he adds, "Let the president answer on higher anarchy/Strap him with an AK-47, let him go fight his own war/Let him impress daddy that way . . . No more blood for oil."

"{Bush} has been painted to be this hero, and he's got our troops over there dying for no reason," says Eminem in an upcoming Rolling Stone cover story (on stands November 5th). "I think he started a mess . . . He jumped the gun, and he fucked up so bad he doesn't know what to do right now . . . We got young people over there dyin', kids in their teens, early twenties that should have futures ahead of them. And for what? It seems like a Vietnam 2. Bin Laden attacked us, and we attacked Saddam. Explain why that is. Give us some answers."

Well, better late than never.

On edit: using brackets and "Bush" inside the brackets gives...nothing.

How appropriate.

3. dude, relax a minute
we are now less than 3 weeks from the election.

du has known about this shite for a long time. to say 'better late than never' diminishes their voice.

please understand that the community here on du know much, much more than the average person out there.

even though it may be late, it has the ability to reach the masses. let the celebs have their voice; they are able to get the peeps to vote, so the more of them that are rooting for our side, the better.

:peace:

I just wish it came out sooner, when more people could register.

But at least this is an impetus for those who register to actually vote.

14. "Divided States of Embarrassment"
Thats one of his quotes on WA. Apparently he felt then how I feel now. He had plenty of Bush bashes on the Eminem Show Album.

"Tell Laura and her husband to back off, And launch one of these russians, and blast off, blow every cheneying thing, except afghanistan on the map, off"

"Oh God, Sadam's got his own Laden, with his own private plane, his
own pilot, set to blow college dorm rooms doors off the hinges, oranges, peach, pears, plums, syringes, yeah here I come, i'm inches, away from you, dear fear none, hip-hop is in
a state of 911, so..."

"The boogies monster of rap, Yeah the man's back
With a plan to ambush this Bush administration,
Mush the Senate's face in and push this generation,
Of kids to stand and fight for the right to say something you might not like"

I'm sure there's more. I know he says a lot of things I don't agree with and that piss a lot of people off, but I'm glad he chooses to send this message too.

10. Jesus Christ....
I was looking up the song lyrics when I came upon this:

Hip-hop artist and Rapper Eminem was in shock last night (Oct 19) after the uncle, who he thought of as a father, committed suicide.

Todd Nelson, 42, shot himself in the head as he sat in his car. He had apparently become depressed over a sheriff’s rottweiler, which was allegedly making his family’s lives a misery.

Todd helped bring up the rapper, now 32, whose real dad walked out on him when he was a baby.

For Eminem – real name Marshall Mathers III – this is the second member of his family he has lost to suicide.

His other uncle Ronnie killed himself after a break-up with a girlfriend.

16. yes....
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 09:26 PM by Elbowroom
this will help you understand many of his other songs. He tends to blend fantasy and his own reality in his art. Ronnie's struggles have been mentioned many times as well as Marshall's own personal struggles. People too often downplay Eminem's actual talent and the level of poetry he creates. I guess his childish(but genious)humor overshadows that sometimes.

25. I'm really happy to see he is venting his rage at the right people
I have known he is a genius since I heard his rap on my Missy Elliot album, but venting rage at oppressed people like gays and women like he initially spent alot of his talent on is stupidly lame and counterproductive. I've been so encouraged that a whole generation has been seduced by his art, because I'm a poetry lover and it is so encouraging to me to see so many kids enjoy having their ears seduced by feminine rhyme and internal rhyme, which are two of the rarest forms of rhyme in poetry and music, because you really (at least in my opinion) have to have a god-given talent to sling these around so effortlessly like people like Bruce Springsteen and Eminem do.

I hope he can stradle the chasm between making his art productive to peace and truth and not diluting it.

11. Some More Lyrics From The Song
The song is not as focused on Shrub as I might like but he is the over riding theme.

Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters is we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us, they can't, we're stronger now more then ever,
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go,
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push up, mush, fuck Bush, until they bring our troops home come on just . . .

----

Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us,
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's trying to tell us something, maybe this is God just saying
we're responsible for this monster, this coward, that we have empowered

----

Let the President answer on high anarchy
Strap him with AK-47, let him go
Fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to think that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes, it's all lies, the stars and stripes
They've been swiped, washed out and wiped,
And Replaced with his own face, mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you'll know why, because I told you to fight
----

And as we proceed, to mosh through this desert storm, in these closing statements, if they should argue, let us beg to differ, as we set aside our differences, and assemble our own army, to disarm this weapon of mass destruction that we call our president, for the present, and mosh for the future of our next generation, to speak and be heard, Mr. President, Mr. Senator

not the first song that's had a dig at the WOT

"Yeah you laugh till' yo muthafuckin ass gets drafted
When you're in bandcamp thinking the crap can't happen
Till you fuck around get a anthrax napkin
Inside a package wrapped in saran wrap wrapping
Open the plastic and then you stand back gasping
Fucking assassins are jacking amtracks crashing
All this terror america demands action
Next thing you know you got uncle sam's ass asking
To join the army or what you'll do for the navy
You're just a baby getting recruited at 18
You're on a plane now eating their food and their baked beans
I'm 28 they go' take you fore they take me"

33. My two
Older people never understood Eminem I don't think. He was rapping exactly what he heard behind the closed doors of white America. It was truth. Not necessarily his beliefs, but truth. And rapping about how angry you get when you feel like killing somebody, truth. Not something you're intending on doing or want somebody else to do, just raw truth. I've always liked Eminem and I'm 46, eek, 47 now.

whew. I can't stop listening to this. This is soundtrack for the next ten days. This song says the world is at fucking stake this week and you better know it.

I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible

It feels so good to be back..

Scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel, reenergize, and rewind
I give sight to the blind, mind sight through the mind
I ostracize my right to express when I feel it's time
It's just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight you take it as I’m gonna whip someone's ass
If you don't understand don't even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a fatherless past
Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or at least shows no difficulty multi task
And juggling both, perhaps mastered his craft slash
Entrepreneur who has held long too few more rap acts
Who has had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his career typical manure moving past that
Mister kiss his ass crack, he's a class act
Rubber band man, yea he just snaps back

Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors

To the people up top, on the side and the middle,
Come together, let's all bomb and swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters is we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us, they can't, we're stronger now more then ever,
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go,
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push up, mush, fuck Bush, until they bring our troops home come on just . . .

We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors, come on

Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us,
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's trying to tell us something, maybe this is God just saying
we're responsible for this monster, this coward, that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head nodding,
How could we allow something like this, Without pumping our fist
Now this is our, final hour

Let me be the voice, and your strength, and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme, just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify the times it, and multiply it by six
Teen million people are equal of this high pitch
Maybe we can reach Al Quaida through my speech
Let the President answer on high anarchy
Strap him with AK-47, let him go
Fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to think that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes, it's all lies, the stars and stripes
They've been swiped, washed out and wiped,
And Replaced with his own face, mosh now or die

If I get sniped tonight you'll know why, because I told you to fight

So come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness

47. Impressive
I listen to quite a variety of music and have enjoyed some of Eminem's songs while I've disliked some of his others. However, this song is very impressive. Eminem really captures the spirit of a movement marching through the mush and headed for change -- people from all parts of the nation, all parts of the world -- committed to one purpose: to unseat this President.

Very powerful. It definitely has the power to energize a lot of potential voters. I only hope it had been released a week earlier.

Are you familiar with the tracks "White America" and especially "Square Dance" from his last album.

From Square Dance:

Never been the type to bend or budge
The wrong button to push,
No friend of Bush...

The boogies monster of rap,
Yeah the man's back
With a plan to ambush this Bush administration,
Mush the Senate's face in and push this generation,
Of kids to stand and fight for the right to say something you might not like,
This white hot light,
That i'm under,
No wonder,
I look so sunburnt,
Oh no,
I won't leave no stone unturned,
Oh no i won't leave,
Wont go nowhere,
Do-si-do,
Oh, yo, ho, hello there
Oh yeah don't think I won't go there,
Go to the Beirut and do a show there
Yah you laugh till your muthafuckin' ass gets drafted,
While you're at band camp thinkin' the crap can't happen,
Till you fuck around,
Get an anthrax napkin,
Inside a package wrapped in saran Wrap wrapping,
Open the plastic and then you stand back gasping,
Fuckin' assassins hijackin' Amtracks crashin,
All this terror America demands action,
Next thing you know you've got Uncle Sam's ass askin'
To join the army or what you'll do for there Navy.
You just a baby,
Gettin' recruited at eighteen,
You're on a plane now,
Eatin their food and their baked beans.
I'm 28 ,
They gon take you 'fore they take me
Crazy insane or insane crazy?
When i say Hussein you say Shady,
My views aint changed still Inhumane,
Wait,
Arraigned two days late,
The date's today,
Hang me!

53. Not the first anti-bush song
Better late than never?

I'd suggest you check out the Eminem Show and listen to a few great tracks from there...one of which envisioned a draft.
