Yahoo: "Kerry has slight financial edge over Bush."
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 10:08 PM by tedoll78
John Kerry (news - web sites) started the final two weeks of his general-election campaign with a slight cash edge over President Bush (news - web sites), though each has less than a third of his $75 million budget left.

Kerry had just over $24 million on hand as of mid-month, compared with $22 million left for Bush. Both spent around $14 million in the first two weeks of October, pre-election campaign finance reports they filed Thursday showed.

The $150 million in general-election spending by Bush and Kerry is a fraction of the overall election cost. Total spending in the presidential and congressional races will approach an estimated $4 billion, nearly $1 billion more than the 2000 elections, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks campaign finance.

EXCELLENT!

Not only is Kerry in better poll shape than Gore was in 2000.. he's also able to keep the fight going in the swing states, rather than having to pick-and-choose!

1. this is only a small piece of the pie
The big story this year is the 527's and PAC's that are getting tons of money on our side and will kick some serious ass in the next two weeks.

We did not have that in 2000.

3. That's what happens
...when you have a smaller personnel budget. Kerry workers include a massive, loyal cadre of VOLUNTEERS. Bush has to outsource his and RNC calls to INDIA, and he has to pay people to do a lot of stuff that Kerry people volunteer to do out of loyalty.

5. Don't mean to burst your bubble
but the RNC currently has much more cash on hand than the DNC. By a large margin. So donate to the DNC today! They still need help, otherwise the RNC can run ads for Bush!

9. Just donated to the DNC
I just donated $10 to the DNC. I know that doesn't sound like much but I am a college student who is paying for college purely off of loans and I don't exactly have a huge budget. I have donate a total of about $50 to the Kerry campaign thus far and I consider it the best money I have ever spent. Kerry must and will win! KEEP UP THE WORK!!!

10. High School Senior "vote" poll
Heard on NPR -- (newscaster call it a vote or a mock election part of the time and at other time referred to it as a poll)

7,000 high school senior in 50 schools across PA took part in a "mock election" /vote/poll

the results showed a slim win for KERRY -- 51% for Kerry, 48% for bush*, 1% for Nader

in past "mock election/vote/poll" the results have been 1-2% in line with the national election results
