Russian Parliament's Lower House OKs Kyoto

MOSCOW (AP) -- Russia's lower house of parliament ratified the Kyoto Protocol on combatting global warming Friday, putting the sweeping environmental pact firmly on the road to taking effect.

1. It's saddens me.
Russia and China are becoming more progressive than the US on environmental issues. Most of the their progress is in self interest. Russia wants to join the WTO and China wants energy independence. However, you could easily argue that, especially in the long term, progress in environmental policy is in the self interest of all citizens of the earth. This is definitely one of the major reasons why Shrub Co. needs to be kicked out of the White House.
